In light of the CPS deciding not to charge Sir Cliff, AIBU to think the BBC should set aside as much air time in broadcasting this announcement as it did when it the police were first involved?

LarrytheCucumber Thu 16-Jun-16 11:32:56

I think he deserves apologies from the Police and the BBC for the way they broadcast the search of his home. I am not one of his fans, but he deserved better treatment than that.

branofthemist Thu 16-Jun-16 11:36:06

I think he deserves lots of grovelling apologies. The police and BBC treated this whole thing appallingly.

WordGetsAround Thu 16-Jun-16 11:37:12

I agree with all of the above.

Hope he sues the arses off them all.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp Thu 16-Jun-16 11:38:35

No, I disagree

They don't have sufficient evidence..... But they still have evidence of something, just not enough

CoolforKittyCats Thu 16-Jun-16 11:39:37

Completely agree OP

currytoohot Thu 16-Jun-16 11:43:52

Manontherun ... Irrespective of evidence or not (and fwiw I never for a minute thought they would charge him), it will be interesting how much coverage the BBC gives the announcement.

Absolutely.
They turned a blind eye to Jimmy Saville so now try & ruin anyone with the flimsiest of allegations.

And when he dies it'll all come out, except it won't because all the people at risk of being exposed will be safe then. Massive cover up. He has many friends in high places who are all as bad as him.

Hi all,

Many thanks for the reports about this thread.

It is very much in the news and we are happy for you discuss the news story but please avoid speculation on events. So far, no one has been convicted of anything.

Many thanks.

acasualobserver Thu 16-Jun-16 12:12:41

Another nail in the coffin of the South Yorkshire Police?

CoolforKittyCats Thu 16-Jun-16 12:13:36

So far, no one has been convicted of anything.

There are no charges anymore they have all been dropped.

Queenbean Thu 16-Jun-16 12:14:18

No conviction doesn't mean no evidence

BishopBrennansArse Thu 16-Jun-16 12:16:53

Insufficient doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Innocent until proven guilty, though.

There may be people out there who had something awful happen to them but because its historic they'll not see justice.

For that reason I don't think effusive apologies are appropriate. A simple one off apology should suffice.

CoolforKittyCats Thu 16-Jun-16 12:18:21

No conviction doesn't mean no evidence

Doesn't mean there is either.

Queenbean Thu 16-Jun-16 12:21:16

Appropriate user name there, Kitty

CoolforKittyCats Thu 16-Jun-16 12:22:59

Appropriate user name there, Kitty

Why just because I don't like vigilante style witch hunts?

Queenbean Thu 16-Jun-16 12:25:06

No, because that was Cliff's alleged name within the circumstances that he was on trial for

Tiggeryoubastard Thu 16-Jun-16 12:25:45

grin Queen

Tiggeryoubastard Thu 16-Jun-16 12:27:03

Surferjet I really don't believe they 'try to ruin anyone with the flimsiest of allegations'. That really is a ridiculous statement.

CoolforKittyCats Thu 16-Jun-16 12:27:29

No, because that was Cliff's alleged name within the circumstances that he was on trial for

So what are you trying to say exactly?
