Asking for quick help with my electric

Currently at my neighbours

Last night when I was in the bath I heard an odd sound and realised WiFi had gone off. When I got in bed I tried to plug kindle on charge it wouldn't work so realised the electric had tripped.

It was late, I was tired so didn't think of my fridge/freezer ect

Fast forward to this morning & I remember when I wake. Light sswithes still working but no plug sockets are working. This has happened before when dd spilt juice on an extension lead.

I had to unplug everything in house, switch fuse box on n off n it worked fine.

Tried that this morning and it didn't work. Thought maybe it was the washerso pulled washer out ( not knowing to turn water off first ) and started a massive leak with the washer

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I'll be ringing once I've tried again t I dont want to have an engineer out if I can fix it myself

Lights working, nothing else electric is, checked fuse box all seems fine, what else can it be?

It doesn't sound like you should try and fix it yourself.. If it spontaneously tripped and won't turn back on even though you've unplugged everything then you need an electrician (and a plumber for the machine!)

Sounds like a short in one of your sockets which is stopping the circuit coming back on. You need an electrician.

Are you absolutely sure you've unplugged everything? We had this before and would have sworn every socket was unplugged. 24 hours later, just before an electrician turned up, we realised we have a socket in our walk in cupboard which we'd forgot, which has an extension plugged in that runs lights up to the attic. Unplugged that and it stopped tripping straight away, was just a dodgy extension lead plug.
