Euro 16 - they should ban the countries involved in fighting

Having watched the news the past few nights it's seems clear some fans have just gone to France to cause trouble.

Yes the English fans were attacked/provocted today however they were very much the instigators yesterday.

Surely Russian, France and England football teams should be disqualified from the tournament. Same goes for any other teams who's fans cause trouble.

At least 1 England fan is seriously injured potential life threatening. I've seen footage of Russian fans stamping on English fans, throwing chairs. Water cannons, tear gas. Enough is enough, it's only football.

Or maybe just ban the people involved?!?!?

I agree, strict liability. Clubs shoukd be penalised for the behaviour of their "fans", and this goes for domestic teams too.

I'm actually gobsmacked that the violence that is happening there isn't being widely publicized. My DH is involved in professional gambling and many of his 'group' are in France right now. The videos they are posting to facebook, filmed by themselves, are gut churning.

Yes, ban the people involved. It rankles that police time and resources will be used up on thugs when they have enough on their plate worrying about terrorism.

Ban the fuckers who caused the trouble and brought shame to their country.

Ban the fans. Ban all the people travelling to watch

I don't see why the team should be banned though. It's not Rooney's fault is it..

Completely agree! The English police and fa had enough time to stop the trouble makers going! It's not fair on the true fans but it would send out a loud and clear message that violence is not tolerated. At the very least anyone caught from today's mindless violence should be sent back to UK straight away. It was sickening what was shown tonight.

I think it's not fair on the majority of true supporters if this was to happen.

The thugs causing this should have their passports confiscated for 10 years. Prohibiting them from foreign travels. Of course this will be on top of what French justice deems a punishment.

The thugs in this case are mainly Russian gangs. The police seem very reluctant to get involved. From what I've seen they are waiting until the victim is on the ground, having been kicked the shit out of, and then running in with riot shields.

I'm thinking harshly punish the team then the FA or other football associations will do something about the fans.

Perhaps the police should do what happened in the 1980s 1990s used dyed water in the water cannons anyone caught with dye is arrested and deported. It would mean that potentially innocent people are arrested but it would show a firm line.

The people that cause fights should he punished but it's not that easy.

Ban the teams, dock points from the next tournament. Punish until the fans behave.

Do you mean me? I'm watching it right now, being filmed by people who were in the ground and leaving the ground.

Haven't English fans been rioting and fighting with police for the last three days? Confused

YANBU - the FA, UK police and immigration authorities spent years trying (successfully) to improve the reputation of English football fans and yes this did involve zero tolerance, travel bans and pre tournament policing. This seems to have gone out of the window. There needs to be incentives for the national football associations to take action.

I agree with the PP - it's really worrying French police have to focus so much resource on dealing with these thugs.

Thing is, this isn't a football issue - it's a far right neo-nazi issue. Football is just a front for what these people get up to. For that reason, stringent measures aimed at fans -true fans, who aren't involved in any of this- won't change the situation.

is there a football match on?

RealityCheque · 11/06/2016 23:44

Lol. You do know that if you ban the country because of the fans then there would be no teams left?

Fans would just wear other teams colours and then throw bricks at riot police.

The troublemakers need to be dealt with harshly. Not the teams. That's not how civilised society works.

Well you will also ban Ireland and Polish fans too.

Seems like its mostly Russian fans and a lot of it is hyped up by the media.

Not saying all English fans are without trouble but many tournaments have passed without trouble so a lot to do with policing too

Er, Irish fans have NOT been fighting. I think you mean Northern Irish.

Yes, English fans have been in trouble with the French police for drunken behaviour outside pubs. No English fan,or any other nations fans, have been seen and filmed attacking lone people with knives. I specifically said "Russian gangs". I didn't say, every fan from Russia is a thug so please don't try to do that thing where you pick words from a post to spin out an agenda.

The problem is hooligans are there for the fighting not the football. Even if the england team got sent home they would fight.
I worked with a guy that was a football hooligan, Monday to Friday he was the nicest man you could meet, at the weekend he turned into a different person. He lost his job when he got arrested for being involved with a football riot, it was fighting between supporters of 2 teams and he wasn't a supporter of either team, he had gone for the fight.

and yes, the hooligans are there for the crack of a fight. They need stamping out ferociously. My point was nothing more than surprise at how little this is being mentioned on social media and the news.

nancy95 I met (in another life) men who did just that. They were part of organised gangs with links to far right groups. Football matches just gave them the opportunity to get up to what they wanted because of the volume of people which allowed them to look like part of a crowd. And what they wanted was to kick people's heads in.

Report
OhMyGoddess · 12/06/2016 00:02

I've known men and women like that too, through my ex husband. Their sole purpose was to go to a venue or a country to 'kick off'. I have no doubt that this is what us happening in France.
