I liked it!! I did wonder if she'd been digitally enhanced in the pictures though, I didn't know they could make fabric that green Grin

Wow, what a delightful comment on a 90 year old's birthday Hmm

At least we could spot her in the crowd on the telly like when she wore the yellow one yesterday. When you're older (90) I suppose you can do what you want more or less even if you're the queen.

I loved it. She's 90, why shouldn't she wear the brightest colours possible?

It was in honour of the Irish Guards apparently

I didn't watch it, but I'm sure The Queen has a vast array of outfitters and advice at her fingertips.
Probably she chooses what she wants to wear. She's had enough years of public appointments to know what works and what she wants to wear.
Though some colours are better on TV than others (and they would have known she would be the most photographed person this weekend)

I loved it! She pulled it off extremely well. Wish I looked good in such bright colours...

I thought she looked fantastic and the colour made her very easy to spot

Apparently her outfits are always carefully chosen so that she stands out and people can see her.

There was no danger of her not being seen today!

I thought she looked very elegant.

I've read that she deliberately chooses bright colours for these sorts of events. She recognises people travel a long way and stand around for hours to see her, so believes the least she can do is wear something bright so those people can spot her in the crowd.

She's 90, you know!

(Remember those Spitting Image sketches about the Queen Mother - not even at 90?)

MumOnACornishFarm · 11/06/2016 22:45

Wow, that was bright. Just closed my eyes and I can still see her!

She always dresses to be seen. Huge crowds today, so needed to be very conspicuous.

The woman is 90 and has been Queen for over 60 years. She can wear whatever she likes and if you don't like it I'm pretty sure she couldn't give a hairy rat's arse.

Wonder if Phil will get a telegram from his missus if he makes it to 100?

Report
KnockMeDown · 11/06/2016 22:47

But very very, practically flourescent green!

I do wish her well, I am not saying she couldn't pull it off, but I wasn't expecting to be needing my sunglasses to watch the 10 o'clock news!

I'm no Royalist but I thought she looked great. We should all look as fab at 90yo.

The Annie Lebowitz portrait was great too.

Hi Viz Liz Grin

I hope I'm that with it when I'm 90. Though hopefully I will have given up working on Saturdays at least!

I think she usually dresses beautifully but it was awful the colour of a highlighter pen.

I think she looked like Grumpy Cat dressed as an Opal Fruit meself, but hey ho. I doubt she'd like my clothes either.

I think the issue is more the fact that the small boys of the royal family are invariably dressed as if the invitation stated fancy dress! Who was the poor child in the sailor suit?!
