AIBU to think it's not worth the bother?

My fiancé and I earn around £2200 per month, we have a young son, I was talking to someone and they was talking about tax credits and how I may as well apply to see if I would get anything. We currently don't get any sort of benefits apart from child benefit. My question is, will it be worth filling out the forms and does anyone else on similar wages get any tax credits, council tax benefit etc

Fill out the form and it will tell you if you would get anything but at that amount I doubt you would.

I posted again in the aibu section as I wasn't getting any for all of 5 minutes in the money section (you can tell the football is on and I am bored lol) I work in my sons school so we pay no childcare. I hear lots of people talking about working tax, and child tax credits. We get by ok but never have any cash left over and at this rate we will be getting married as a retirement present! X

Done the online calculator, it gave me a grand total figure of.......£0.00
I am often told by people who are on the same sort of money that they get around £50 per week...I am starting to think there is bound to be a mistake there! X

You would get if your were paying for childcare

We earn about 1600 a month combined due to me being disabled it gives me a premium where we get about £28 a month.

Perhaps they pay childcare or have more children. Although even with 3 kids our ctcs were very small on that that sort of wage.

If you have 1 child you might not get anything but probably would if there was 3 X the whole tax credit system is split up into bands... You could earn 5 grand different to someone else but receive the same payments as the same band. Your friends also may be getting stuff due to last years income.

I only get child tax credit not working and no child care paid as don't qualify for working. X

I also didn't think of last years earnings, I don't think I will bother tbh as it seems there are too many factors that make it so I just won't qualify, I'm not really bothered by it but obviously any extra cash wouldn't be frowned upon, and the only reason I even considered it was because of the friend saying I should try

The total earnings threshold before tax is £38,000 combined or single income in to the household. If you earn over that you won't receive anything.

I wouldn't have thought that someone with a monthly income of £2200 and 1 DC was entitled to TCs, unless perhaps they had a lot of childcare costs and a disabilty but I may be wrong.
