Please please make me feel better
We have had a lone mouse. We have set Humain traps but couldn't get the (not so little as it turns out ) bugger.
Today as I came in from work my DS says "mum I can hear a mouse "

Well as a treat seeing as it's Friday I've bought home two burgers one for DH and one for DS and a lovely caramel Sunday for me.
Well I sit on the sofa to eat ice cream Sunday and noticed that one of the cushions was askew.
Yes you've guessed it I straitened the cushion and put my hand underneath.
I felt warm fur on top of a boney body.
I screamed and ran. I feel very lucky that it didn't bite me.
We searched for an hour turning everything upside down.

We got him and he is now in mice heaven.
I've never been so scared in ages and now I feel sick as a dog.

You poor thing flowers. Btw, leave some more traps down for a while, mice don't travel alone...

NoCapes Fri 10-Jun-16 17:21:17

Get a cat

Redisthenewblack Fri 10-Jun-16 17:40:25

You murdered him?! shock

WorraLiberty Fri 10-Jun-16 17:42:25

Lone mice are quite rare.

Also you're assuming it was a he, when in fact it could be a female with a nest.

We get them in the conservatory sometimes, due to next door's decking.

We've been using these Rentokil bait boxes and they're brilliant. The mice take the poison back to the nest.

At least you got him grin

londonrach Fri 10-Jun-16 17:45:36

They love chocolate. How can you be scared of such a cutie!

Floggingmolly Fri 10-Jun-16 17:47:08

Aw, London!

TheMasterMurderedMargarita Fri 10-Jun-16 17:55:15

Yeah, they look cute and cuddly but they stink and carry disease.
Can you work out where they are getting in?
It most likely will not be living alone a la cute little Jerry...

werealljustpassengerstonight Fri 10-Jun-16 18:06:54

I'm shuddering just reading that.

NavyAndWhite Fri 10-Jun-16 18:09:05

Oh dear, get a cat, immediately. Maybe 2 cats, just to make sure.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree Fri 10-Jun-16 19:14:23

Poor Mouse sad

thanks <---- For the mouse.

I like mice, obviously don't want them living with me though. The cats brought in a mouse once, and it (unknown to me) crawled into my boot. I put my foot into boot, and felt the very same bony wriggly-ness you describe, so I know what you mean smile

TheRollingCrone Fri 10-Jun-16 19:35:24

You know where you you have one, there'l be more.Have a good look round for droppings.

PNGirl Fri 10-Jun-16 20:00:34

AliBingo Fri 10-Jun-16 21:02:00

PNgirl was just about to say the same thing!

UnGoogleable Fri 10-Jun-16 21:05:48

I love mice, I'd never wish them harm - but I would have screamed the fucking house down in OPs shoes.

Helgathehairy Fri 10-Jun-16 21:09:14

meh. Usually if I find a mouse inside I try and usher it out the door. I've also rescued mice from the cat and the dog. I was quite upset that the last two I found were dead. I live in the country and there are a fair few around.

Summerdreams Fri 10-Jun-16 21:16:07

Op wine
There will definately be more though so be carfull.

QueenStreaky Fri 10-Jun-16 21:17:33

I like mice. The cat brings them in alive and chases them round the kitchen. I've become quite adept at picking them up and setting them free in the garden. The cat hates it when I do that.

BIWI Fri 10-Jun-16 21:18:24

I don't know if YABU or YANBU. What's your question?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree Fri 10-Jun-16 21:46:53

I capture mice under an old towel, and release them outside too. Couldn't abide mouse-murder.

JennyOnAPlate Fri 10-Jun-16 21:50:04

You need cats. A whole pride herd lot of cats.
