Japan is a reasonably wealthy country and supposedly a democracy. It should not treat potential asylum seekers as criminals. Germany and Canada accepts 40, The uk accepts 30% of applications. Japan only accepts 0.2% of applications. They make the lives of potential ayslum seekers wretched that they choose to return home even if that decision is dangerous.

I feel that the world community should put pressure on Japan. Perhaps they could be expelled from the g8 group of countries.
