With next doors builder!
They are having building work done and the builders are really imo taking the proverbial!
While digging foundations they dug a deep hole that extended under the fence and into our garden. I have a small child and the hole was big enough for them to fall into. I asked the builder to sort it out. He didn't apologise but just told me that the hole had to be that big. Didn't seem to think it was a problem that it was in our garden and said it would eventually get filled in. Agreed to sort it sooner since it was a danger to my child but never actually bothered. We have had to cover it. We were a bit annoyed but let it go.
Now for the past few days they have taken it upon themselves to use part of our garden to pile rubble and other stuff they have cleared from our neighbours land. It's a part of our garden that we currently don't use ( but have plans for) but they do know it's ours. We have watched them pile stuff up and wondered if they were ever going to have the courtesy to ask if they could. They didn't.
Today I had reason to go out and speak to them about something else. While there I asked if they realised that it was our garden and that it would have been nice for them to have asked as if we had wanted to use it we now couldn't. The mood changed straight away and rather than the apology I anticipated I got attitude. They definitely do know it's our area as we spoke to them before when they were parking there. The attitude of the builder seems to be that they "need" to clear stuff from our neighbours and that it will all go eventually. He seemed annoyed that I'd said anything and acted as though I was being out of order for objecting to them doing what they like. He didn't seem to have any awareness that since it's not our building work we don't actually care what they " need" to do and that if they want to encroach on our land they have to ask.
Anyway it ended with him being rude to me and me getting annoyed and raising my voice. He has told our neighbours I was " aggressive", which I may have been but only because he started being rude and giving me attitude. The stupid thing is that if he had apologised or bothered to ask if we minded we would have let them get on with it.
So a rather long winded AIBU to have objected!?
