AIBU?

to find this 'dance dad' insufferable?

Ok so my kids go to a dance class and one of the dads who drop off/pick up is really starting to grate on me.
First it was the modelling portfolio he brought to show the teacher at the end of one of the lessons and the loud comments about how she is so much more attractive than other kids her age - she is cute but no cuter than any other of the kids in the class. Fine I thought - everyone thinks their child is the cutest....
The next week he was quibbling with the teacher (who doesn't even mark the exams) over his childs exam mark. Seems like she did pretty well but didn't get the top mark whatever that is (no idea myself as never entered mine for the exams).
A couple of weeks later he is talking to the dance teacher about how he was moving his child to a different as her teacher had said at parents evening that she was slightly behind when he knows for a fact that she is the cleverest in the class and gifted.
Fast forward to the last lesson and he was telling her about how his youngest is getting very frustrated because the other children in the class aren't learning the steps as fast as she is (even though he does recognise she does learn them unusually fast!). This is all at foghorn volume and in front of the other parents picking up. I'm all for being proud of your kids but wtf? Does anyone on here know anyone like this?

He said that his dd was more attractive than other kids her age at foghorn volume in a dance class?

Really

I'd be inclined to get on with my day and not listen to his conversations with the teacher tbh. It's easy enough to tune out even the loudest of people.

Unfortunately these deluded arseholes are ten a penny. Parents evening is a delight, not.

It was after the dance class actually as I was getting my kids ready to go. As he was showing the A4 file of black and white photographs of his dd.
And you'd need to be deaf to tune this man out. I think a couple more weeks and it may go from grating to comedy gold though so I'm holding out for that.

Grin I gad a dad square up to me because I commented that his child wasn't always leader as I knew the teacher made a note of who was leader and kept very strict taking turns.
He started shouting "she is always leader, she is!"
When they came out he rushed up to her shouting "who was leader, tell me who was leader."
His dd replied "I was" and he glared round with a "see I told you" look.
At which point one of the other children pipes up with "no you weren't, you said you wanted to be, but Miss Jenny said you'd had your turn a couple of weeks ago and so Emily was and you sulked and wouldn't join in."

Cue secret grins all round. He didn't come back for many weeks. Grin

We have a try to hard dad at band. Sits and waits for his child to be done at rehearsal with his fucking electric guitar plugged into one of those damned earphone amps and plinks away for the ninety minutes like he's some sort of rock god. He's a twat and a half. One week he brought a cleaning set and proceeded to mop the thing down with a bunch of unpleasant smelling gunks and liquids. After a few other parents and children commented it was smelly and very annoying I had a quiet word with the caretaker, who had a word with the dad. Apparently he just dumps and runs now. Result.
