Being utterly exasperated over DH foot peel

My DH has so many qualities about him but his personal habits utterly disgust me. They include keeping dirty cups, plates and bowls upstairs in his study to the point where there are no more left to use, in the case the cups. I counted 9 cups last time which by then all needed to be bleached out, as do the other dishes generally. He also has a habit of scratching his feet, leaving a mass of foot peel on the brown leather sofa (he does it elsewhere also, including in our bed but the peel doesn't always show which is still unacceptable). I have tried everything to address it but he continues to do it. It's exasperating and is a deeply unattractive and I fucking hate it. I resent cleaning up after him but if I don't do it, it'll never be done. He always apologises afterwards, promises not to do it againpbut still continues to do it. AIBU to feel that I really can't take it any more? Or am I blowing this out of proportion?

YANBU. I was hoping your title was a typo. That is revolting envy (not envy).

Is it a new thing or has he always been like this?

monkeywithacowface Wed 01-Jun-16 10:17:08

Maybe pick your nose and wipe the contents on his computer screen see how he likes (am only half joking!).

With the plates and cups I would actually just keep buying replacements. I've found the best way to get my dh to really up his game is make him realise it's costing him money. When he realised how much I was paying someone to do the ironing he decided to take over that chore!

Footpeel Wed 01-Jun-16 10:17:18

The dishes, as far as I remember but the foot peel within the past year.

Littleorangecat Wed 01-Jun-16 10:18:53

YANBU but why are you cleaning it up?!?! The foot skin- it's gross, make him clean it up, immediately. Every thing he does it, make a massive deal of it, because it's rank.
Same with the cups, as soon as you see them, make him get them into the kitchen and clean them out himself, again immediately.

branofthemist Wed 01-Jun-16 10:19:45

The dishes thing pisses me off. However the only culprit in this house is 11 year old Dd. And she has even got better at this.

Yanbu, it would really piss me off.

The foot thing is disgusting and the fact that he doesn't clean up after himself and let's you clear up after him is so disrespectful.

claw12 Wed 01-Jun-16 10:20:38

Buy him a pumice stone and a washing up bowl, don't collect washing up, hand him the bowl until he gets the message!

AnchorDownDeepBreath Wed 01-Jun-16 10:20:45

Oh god that's utterly disgusting.

I couldn't live with someone who left skin trails round my house. Especially foot skin. I hate feet. Eurgh.

Toomanymarsbars Wed 01-Jun-16 10:23:09

If my toddler deliberately makes a mess, I make him clean it up, You're talking about a full grown man ffs! That's disgusting! I like the PP idea, just keep buying new cups etc and leave the rest in the pig's study etc, he can clean up his own effing mess. You're not his maid, nor his mother!

Footpeel Wed 01-Jun-16 10:23:46

I do make him clean up if he's around but often I discover it in the morning after he's left for work . I have tried leaving it but I can't stand to see it there and neither can the kids so I end up cleaning it up and then feel pissed off with myself for doing it. I work FT as well so it's not as if I have spare time on my hands.

Littleorangecat Wed 01-Jun-16 10:33:46

You need to go nuclear at him then. It's bloody awful, and like others have said very disrespectful to you. Tell him it's making you sick as it's so utterly revolting.

TheNotoriousPMT Wed 01-Jun-16 10:36:43

Then I'd be tempted to bag it up and, when he returns, to put it in his bag/briefcase/whatever. Somehow or other, this has to become his problem.

God, that is horrible.

Are you familiar with the blog entry "She divorced me because I left a cup by the dishwasher"? I'm on my phone so can't link, but Google it, have a read, and share it with him if it resonates with you. And point out that leaving skin peelings in your bed is so much worse than a cup by the dishwasher.

If this was my DH the effect on our sex life would be pretty disastrous.

Footpeel Wed 01-Jun-16 10:40:05

Yes, I've told him how off putting it is and what doesn't help is that he is very poor at washing his hands. I'm sorry, it sounds as if I am just whinging. I just needed to get it off my chest. If he was here i would be telling him directly but he's at work in another city today.

WellErrr Wed 01-Jun-16 10:41:56

That's disgusting.

You need to tell him in no uncertain terms how unattractive it is and how it makes you feel about him. Go absolutely nuts every time it happens.

Poor you flowers

feellikeahugefailure Wed 01-Jun-16 10:50:17

Stop any sex.

WriteforFun1 Wed 01-Jun-16 10:50:37

I feel ill

how can you share a bed with that?

Footpeel Wed 01-Jun-16 10:51:25

I appreciate all of your responses. Notorious, I will google that. Thank you.

hanflan Wed 01-Jun-16 11:04:33

Leave all the cups, buy new ones.

When you sweep the foot peel off the sofa, put them in a little zip lock bag, let them build up for a while then empty the contents on his desk in his study. Let him dealk with his mess.

This is utterly rank.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys Wed 01-Jun-16 11:05:26

Sweep up the foot peelings and empty dustpan onto his pillow.

Buy disposable cups

Loulou0 Wed 01-Jun-16 11:09:12

Oh god that's revolting. You have to do something! My DH does a similar thing with a some eczema he had on his leg. As wellerrr says, point out it is the least sexy thing you've ever seen and walk out the room. Do you know if you have any habits that drive him mad? If so, start immediate doing it as soon as the foot shaving begins!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut Wed 01-Jun-16 11:12:02

I would sweep up the peelings into an envelope and send them to him at work. I really would after an initial warning.

Dirty bugger.

peasareevilcreatures Wed 01-Jun-16 11:16:37

My exH did that...god I'm glad I'm divorced!

Footpeel Wed 01-Jun-16 11:19:38

Tried disposable cups and they did work more or less until I ran out of cups but I still resented having to take responsibility. It's the foot peel I think is the most unappealing.
He is intolerable about other's personal habits but I can't name any of mine . Not saying I'm perfect as I have other flaws. I only go apeshit mad if the kids aren't around as I really don't like them being drawn into it. Btw I have sent him this link. It's not something that I generally agree with but he needs to see others' perspectives.

LadyintheRadiator Wed 01-Jun-16 11:22:52

He's fucking disgusting and has no respect for you, obviously. And not much for anyone or anything else - what a pig.

I'd ask you what you plan to do but you've sent him the thread so maybe not.

ijustwannadance Wed 01-Jun-16 11:33:15

I would collect the footpeel and leave it on the chair in his study. Dirty fucker.
