AIBU?

To wash my hair after going to the hairdressers

This isn't a TAAT honest.

I got my hair cut after work. The hairdresser washed, cut and styled it using heat spray, smoothing gunk and hair spray. It looks great.

I mentioned to DH that I'll need to wash it before bed. DH thinks it's daft to wash it as it has been washed and styled and would be still nice looking for tomorrow. I can't go to bed with product in my hair. It seems dirty.

Aibu? Am I weird? Do you wash your hair after going to the hairdresser?

No, I avoid washing my hair for as long as possible after the hairdresser...

The spray will just comb out, surely? The rest is fine.

Oh I always keep my hair the way the hairdressers does it until a day or two after! I wouldn't wash it unless I didn't like the way they had styled it!

I think a hairdresser washes your hair more thoroughly so it shouldn't be dirty.

Try it tonight, set your alarm for slightly earlier and see how you feel in the morning. If you feel "dirty" give it a quick wash Smile

Can't go to bed with product in your hair? Never heard of this! Seems quite strange.

isn't that a bit like saying that you can't go to bed with hand cream on your hands?

This is one where it's definitely 'just you' OP.

Nope, it's not just the OP - I do this too!

I can't stand the feeling of product in my hair, and I hate when it smells of weird sprays and serums.

DH thinks I'm bonkers but it's the first thing I do after a haircut - home, shower, blow dry it myself. Grin

Ask hairdresser not to use product in future. Problem solved.

Have a wet cut next time OP - you go out with clean wet hair

You're paying for that blow-dry and styling!

Not just you, I don't even have mine blow dried, just a wet cut and rough dry but they still put tons of product in it and make it feel sticky, I'm not happy till I've washed it again.

I wash it because I cant stand the little bits. Or product.

Agree that this is a total waste! Maybe put your hair in a pony tail if you're worried about getting product on your face/pillow?

Why do all the washers bother getting their hair blow-dried in the salon if they're just going to go home and ruin all the stylist's work by washing it again? Confused

Just tell your hairdresser you don't want any product?

As for the brushes, years ago all brushes and combs in the salon were sterilised after every client. I can't understand why that isn't done nowadays.

I HATE the feel of product in my hair too and I'd need to wash it too. I just don't let them put product in now (they know what I'm like). I've long hair, with highlights and I need serum and I can cope with that, but nothing else!

I know, I should ask for no product, but a little bit of me keeps thinking, maybe this one will be different and really do something for my hair. It never does.

I wash my hair as soon as I get back from the hairdressers. It's the first thing I do. I hate the way they dry it!

Why on earth are you paying for a blow dry if you don't want one?? If you don't wantthem to use products on your hair, just say so.

Bizarre behaviour! Like paying for a manicure then going home and taking off the nail varnish. And don"t get me started on the 'can't sleep with products in my hair' scenario...

I don't mind getting my hair styled with product as I always watch how she does it and I ask her to use the products I already have (I buy them from her). I talked a photo of my hair when it is styled so I can do it myself.

I guess I don't like the idea of getting product on my bedding and pillowcase. I also wear a silk hair bonnet Blush to sleep as I am growing out my hair as my hairdresser says that the silk is more gentle to my hair. yes it's an attractive look so don't want to get it dirty.

For years, I always said no product. It wasn't a problem at all.
I quite often brush my own hair before they start cutting it as I prefer to do my parting myself, plus it drives me nuts when they comb it!!! I can literally hear the damage it causes!
Why do they always comb it from the top, with all the tangles!!! Comb it from the bottom!!!!! And work your way up.
I've never ever been to a hairdresser that has combed/brushed my hair out gently/properly before cutting it!
Rant over Grin

I wash mine every time because I feel like a swishy little pony when the hairdresser does it. Every time I say I'll just get it cut and none of the other faff next time then I think it might be different and I'll like the fancy hairdresser hair. No, swishy pony hair.

My guy doesn't wash or use product. Just sprays a little water from a spritzer as he dry cuts. I hate having a "new 'do" so I love this all natural approach. He doesn't use hair dryers. I hate them!
At my old hairdresser, yes I loved the cut but always felt my hair looked much better once I'd washed out all of her "styling". I just want my hair, but better. Wouldn't dye my hair either...
