AIBU?

To absolutely HATE ironing?

I've come to terms with it, I'm a terrible housekeeper. I don't mind doing any other chore (apart from bins, that's DP's job) but I'm just not very good at ironing so I don't do it. DP irons his own shirts but other than that I do not see the point.

Aibu to avoid ironing and think that it's not essential unless the clothes are horrifically creased? I'd much rather save the hours of pain and suffering and put netflix on.

Prepared to be flamed for not being a proper adult Grin

I hate ironing. Same as you, dh irons own shirts, I will iron dd's uniform but that's it. Items I own that require ironing are rarely worn. I often think I would like to be the person on who irons everything but its never going to happen!

YANBU. I hate ironing too.

But, we do have an ironing lady, because I think clothes look much better, hang nicer, and seem to last longer when they've been ironed. If we couldn't afford her then I'd iron them myself.

And when I drop DS at school I can spot the children with unironed clothes a mile off and think awwwww Sad, even though logically I know it's doing them no harm.

I have hated ironing since it became "my" chore when I was 10.

I don't own an ironing board, or an iron. Hang stuff up straight from the washer and it'll be right.

I iron in front of the tv with wine. This makes it bearable. I'm not the best ironer in the world mind you - possibly due to the wine!

Love a bit of ironing, and find it therapeutic to fold clothing too.
Plenty of other household jobs I can't bear though!

I don't iron ...I used to but gave up about 5 years ago - I do iron the odd thing if it really needs it - like sofa covers.
I have a friend who can't give up ironing but has an ironing table that collapses really low and she sits on the sofa in front of the telly -just does a bit when she feels like it - so not really a chore but it is a bit of a permanent fixture Smile. Thankfully she has two reception rooms and it is quite a big room anyway so not really in the way ...I don't think I'd get away with doing that...

YABU.

I love it. It's the best bit of housework.

I only iron Ds's school uniform and I hate doing that.

I think ironing is my favourite chore. I do it in front of the TV. Clothes are then neat in the wardrobe, chest of drawers, etc.

When I am back at my mum's, nobody irons but the clothes still need to be folded: I place them on my bed there and fold them and it kills my back. Give me an ironing board any day, and I do not think ironing takes much more time than folding the clothes neatly anyway.

I also like emptying bins. Wink

Dusting and hoovering on the other hand, I hate... and don't do it as often as I should.

I hate ironing.

I do 2 hours a week. Bedding is sent off to an ironing lady every week.

I iron all clothes including pjs.

I can always tell if someone has something on that isnt ironed and i always think they look a mess

Even if they are tumble dried they still need ironing

I don't like ironing.

I only iron shirts/blouses/trousers.

I'm always puzzled on these threads when people come along to say they don't even own an iron.

Unless they and the rest of their family never wear shirts and trousers? Confused

I don't own an iron, Worra. I don't own any shirts either though.Smile

DS has non-iron shirts for school, which are carefully shaken and very neatly hung up as soon as they come out of the washing machine. Trousers don't need ironing either, if they get a good shaking and smoothing before drying.

Don't know where my iron is.

I wash three shirts at a time , spin at 600rpm hand on hangers immediately or line dry.

I know quite a few people who never iron. Just don't do it.

I've yet to see a pair of trousers other then those thick Teflon school ones, that don't need ironing after a wash.

I hate ironing ,I haven't ironed anything myself for years but I send anything that needs ironing out to our ironing lady .

I hate it too, I iron as little as possible. Thankfully dh has realised that he can watch a lot more sport on to without me complaining if he does the ironing while watching it Grin

Well, not that I care, but a few people have actually looked me up and down and said, "Really? You don't look like someone who doesn't iron", when I've told themSmile.

The thing is, if someone just doesn't like ironing they'll normally still have an iron in the cupboard, just incase an item of clothing really needs it.

But for someone to not own an iron at all, that implies that even if something really does need ironing they don't care and they'll wear it anyway.

Their business of course, but obviously other people can see the clothes are creased.

I iron school uniform and a couple of work shirts as they look like I've slept in them if I don't. i stopped the Sunday afternoon 4 hour slog of ironing after reading a thread on here.

I don't own an iron or an ironing board but then I don't have any shirts/trousers either, I pretty much just live in jeans and t shirts.

Even if I did have something that 'needed' ironing I probably would still wear it. I don't really care tbh, life is just too damn short for ironing! Yanbu OP.

I never iron. Had a dress that needed ironing once and took it to the dry cleaners and they pressed it for me.

I hang clothing up to dry on hangars.

DH irons his work shirts and I iron the occasional top if it looks really creased when I take it out of the wardrobe and if I'm sewing I'll press seams flat with the iron but that's it.

Ironing bedding seems completely bonkers to me when it's going to get creased as soon as you get into the bed!
