AIBU to be a bit annoyed that none of my friends/family have tagged me in the motherhood challenge on Facebook?

I know it's silly, & I don't even like Facebook that much, but I am a bit annoyed that no one ever tags/ nominates me in any of these 'wonderful mum' things.

Focus on the first half of your sentence. That's what a normal, sensible person thinks.

JonSnowsBeardClippings Fri 13-May-16 07:00:01

Nobody ever tags me either. This is a fact that makes me happy, as they clearly know I don't have time for this nonsense

ceeveebee Fri 13-May-16 07:00:40

I'm annoyed that I have been tagged. These things irritate me beyond belief, I am a wonderful human being not just someone's mum thank you very much.

I don't understand what the challenge is. Do most people struggle to upload photos? Struggle to find a photo of their children they like?
bitter, who me?

I'm just thankful I spent my youth when tagging meant graffiti and not naughty escapades plastered all over Facebook.

Agree with others - see it only as a judgement on your good sense.

Randomposter Fri 13-May-16 07:04:34

I know StealthPolarBear it's crazy isn't it, all you have to do is post a picture, but they obviously think that's too challenging for me!

MadisonAvenue Fri 13-May-16 07:06:24

I haven't been tagged either, didn't got tagged for the ice bucket thing or the no make up selfie fads either.

I'm just one of those people who goes through life pretty much unnoticed anyway.

I am glad no-one has tagged me, especially after reading a previous thread about this and how hard people struggling with conceiving find this sort of bollocks. I have several friends that have/are struggling and I don't want to rub their noses in it.

WellErrr Fri 13-May-16 07:07:22

In never tagged either. Which makes me very happy.

BorisIsBack Fri 13-May-16 07:09:02

I fucking HATE that challenge. Load of rubbish. Just think how pleased your friends who are single/infertile/struggling/having a toughy time being mum will be that they don't have to see another smug picture of a happy family. On behalf of all of us who can't easily conceive thankyou for not being a part of the source of unnecasary pain.

littledrummergirl Fri 13-May-16 07:14:37

I've been tagged [preens], by a work colleague who clearly doesn't know me very well. Wonderful mum my arse! Luckily my friends know me better grin

GeekyWombat Fri 13-May-16 07:15:11

Each to their own but I think these kinds of 'challenges' (is it a challenge, really?) end up feeling a bit smug and self-congratulatory. I tend to ignore them. What about the people who don't want children? Or do but for whatever reason are finding it difficult to conceive?

I love seeing (and posting) pics of my friends' and family's children but I'm not sure it needs to be some kind of epic tagfest. Especially when I know people who'll post pics of their kiddiwinks looking catalogue pose perfect and statuses about them being gifted / sleeping through the night / saying something epic but won't mention them vomiting in mum's hair or being troublesome. Its not a reflection of real life.

Laquila Fri 13-May-16 07:17:34

Good grief, be grateful! I'm assuming it's because my friends (and actually I've only seen it once or twice this time round) know that I hate these kind of things, basically the 21st century equivalent of the bloody chain letter.

Also as Stealth says, what's actually fecking challenging about it??!

MsVestibule Fri 13-May-16 07:19:47

I don't normally mind all the FB memes (even though I don't participate) but this one is a bit crap.

I found the early years of motherhood very challenging, but uploading a few photos of the millions I've taken, not so much.

Are your close friends on FB? Are they likely to participate in this? If not, there's your answer. If they did, would you feel comfortable asking them why they didn't tag you? Or would that feel a bit needy?

AllThingsNautical Fri 13-May-16 07:21:22

I got tagged but unfortunately rolled my eyes so hard that they got stuck in the back of my head and now I can't see to choose between my favourite photos of gin. I did consider posting my treasured picture of the four poster bed I had to myself on a luxury child free break when I got to sleep through the night for the first time in years. That was a high point of motherhood for me.

SkinnyChips Fri 13-May-16 07:21:38

Think yourself lucky, I was tagged but didn't tag back as I am sensitive to those that are unable to be a "wonderful" mother as they are struggling to conceive or are single.

Grateful I wasn't tagged for the no make up selfie!

StealthPolarBear Fri 13-May-16 07:22:27

Maybe you have to do it while jumping out of a plane. If you forget to pull the parachute because you're too busy deciding between "eyes open not smiling" vs "eyes half shut but nice smile" then you lose.

Randomposter Fri 13-May-16 07:24:43

AllThingsNautical 😂😂😂😂😂

RosieandJim89 Fri 13-May-16 07:26:42

I was tagged but have ignored it. These things drive me bloody mad!

Levatrice Fri 13-May-16 07:28:36

All things nautical grin

winchester1 Fri 13-May-16 07:28:39

I've not been tagged for any of these tbh I thought they were more a kids thing as I only really hear about them and don't actually see them on fb.

PalaceResident Fri 13-May-16 07:29:30

Agree with skinnychips.

I see it as a testament to my discernment that people don't tag me in such things, they know I'd think it's naff!!
