to think men shouldn't have long nails?!

me and my DH were at a little party for our friends daughter last week, when we bumped into the dads brother.
He works with my BIL, so it's not like we're complete strangers.
At this party, though, I noticed something that has now scarred me for life- his nails!
Some were cut short and neatly trimmed, but at LEAST 4 were about 2cm long!! I can't get my head around it.. why bother looking after some and not the others? Why do men grow their nails like that?? And yes I'm all for equality, if men want long hair etc that's fine I just don't understand why he would go to so much effort to cut almost half of them and then give up..
I also work in an environment where I see lots of old men with long nails.. it makes me shudder!

YANBU, as long as you're happy for someone else to say "women shouldn't have short nails". Otherwise YABVU.

It's reasonable for you to think you don't like them or wouldn't find that attractive in a partner but of course YABU to say men shouldn't have long nails.

Ultimately his nails his choice. If some are long and some short there is probably a reason too - maybe his long nails are better for guitar playing, nose picking, bum scratching...

I'm a rubbish guitarist. Short nails for holding down the strings properly and long ones for plucking.

Yeah, you're being unreasonable.
Men can have long nails if they want, just as women can have short nails.
To continue the theme, men can have long hair, women can have short hairm
Men can wear pink, women can wear blue.
Men can carry handbags, women can carry briefcases.
Men can wear make up, women can be makeup free.
Do you see where this is going?

Of course they can have long nails/short nails/whatever. But other people are allowed not to like it.

I don't like long nails on anyone, and I think those painted talons some women have are super creepy. However I dislike it equally on any sex and its not my business anyway.
