AIBU?

On a scale of bit-of-a-twit to worse-than-Stalin how bad am I for doing this?

I forgot to go to work ... It wasn't my usual day, and the rota had been changed about six times already and I had an old copy ... The woman I was supposed to be working with rang me once and didn't leave a message - if she had I'd have gone in as I was only pottering at home - she found someone else to cover her lunch so she didn't miss any breaks and as it was mid-week it wasn't very busy. She's now in a major huff with me. I've apologised but she's still all pouty and hard done by. Do I go all grovelly and shower her with chocs and further apologies or do I just move on?

She is a chronic under-functioning lazy cow ... If you work with her you end up doing everything while she chats to whoever's passing so I'm not all that sorry really and I'm afraid that's clouding my judgement ...

90% Stalin - could be worse.

Bit of a twit. And she can huff and puff her way to Fuckery and back, if she really wants to Smile

You have apologised. That is all that is required. Do NOT reward her PA puffing wth chocolates and being nice... don't make that rod for your own back Smile

Bit of a twat Grin

If she was that desperate to contact you she would have rung again

Off topic though...where the hell has this come from?! Angry Bird

It's an Angry Bird - sort of apt, really ... Grin She said she didn't leave a message because she had a sore throat!

She didn't leave a message because she had a sort throat? How on earth did she expect that she was going to communicate with you if you had answered? She sounds like a complete drama llama.

Is it possible you were subconsciously 'forgetting' as you did not want to work with Lazy Bint?! Grin

I reckon she was too lazy to leave a message. More fool her. You were a bit of a twit aren't we all at some time but an apology is all that's required.

Bit of a tit but from managing places with rotas which are liable to change, it happens tp everyone of some degree at least once!!

AugustaFinkNottle · 05/05/2016 16:53

Couldn't she have texted or emailed you anyway?

That's quite bad, but she was just as bad for not calling again or leaving a message.

On a sensible note, once back in work I'd apologise profusely (maybe just to everyone else Grin) and say that maybe how the rotas are distributed should be looked at to stop this happening again?

Sorry what? She couldn't leave a message because she had a sore throat?

How did she manage all day? Did she communicate with pen and paper? Grin

"Gosh I'm so sorry you had to do all the work today, must have been a bit of a shock for you since you're usually titting around doing fuck all"

Not really Grin

I reckon she deliberately didn't leave a message just so that you wouldn't come to work and she could justifiably cause a big dwama. There's always one tiresome fucker person like that in an office.

Sore throat!

What would she have done if you had answered the call, tapped morse code down the line?

You made a mistake - we all make them. We all have bit of a twat moments.

She chose to ring you and speak to you about being in work with her sore throat so could have let a message.

She was a bigger twat - fact Grin

I did a similar thing once, my shift was 8am-2pm, but I wrote it down wrong and came in 2pm expecting to work till 8pm! I also left 2 hours early in one shift as the manager had neglected to tell me that she'd changed the rota and added on some extra hours. I got a bollocking for the last one, despite my protests of not being psychic.
It happens anywhere where the shift pattern constantly changes. Also means that you can't plan ahead at all Angry
On the scale, I'd say you definitely don't rate anywhere near Stalin, and if she felt able to call, why not leave a message?
Dh told me that a colleague of his didn't turn up one Friday with no warning, he wasn't answering his phone. They thought the worst and sent someone round to check on him. Turns out he'd torn two pages off his desk calendar by mistake and he thought it was Saturday. He was having a lie in and had turned off his phone. His punishment was to be mercilessly ribbed about it for weeks afterwards!

Thanks all - she is a total drama llama and it did cross my mind that the lack of message was an attempt to drop me even further into the wrong as Feckless doesn't show up at all is way worse than Feckless has a bit of a brain-fail and is slightly late ... Grin

I've already apologized over the phone so I'll be loudly and publicly sorry for 5 minutes when I go in tomorrow and then never speak of it again. I just wanted to check I wasn't being a complete git in case my dislike for her and her whiny ways was blinding me to what's right and proper!
