AIBU?

(Light hearted-ish) AIBU to hate Mister Maker?

He drives me up the wall with the over exaggerated, over enthusiastic actions and rushed crafts. I half expect him to turn up on screen with a trace of Columbian marching powder around his nostrils because he's that hyper.

I grew up in the days of Neil Buchanan and the late, great Tony Hart , and even as a child I prefer Tony's more sedate and considered arts and crafts because I thought Neil was too excitable. But he's nothing compared to Mister Maker's shouting, jumping, running and general (from my POV) acting like a toddler behaviour.

I also have a particular problem with "Mister Maker Around The World" from a BBC budget point of view - he's been to at least Hong Kong, South Africa, Sydney, San Francisco and Rio De Janeiro. It's a bloody children's art program FFS - smacks of BBC producers on a jolly to me.

AIBU?

My autistic 4 year old loves him and called me Scraps long before he called me mummy Grin I've seen so much of him now it's like I'm in a cult and so YABU!

I'm mildly irritated by Mr Maker's over-enthusiasm......Bing bunny on the other hand gives me furious rage Angry IF YOURE GOING TO SPEAK ENGLISH, SPEAK PROPERLY!!!!! ARRRRGGGHHHH!! (Unfortunately fucking Bing appears to be the only animated creature that keeps my DD engrossed for 20 mins while I fold some washing Sad)

I don't mind Bing's voice too much, but maybe that's because I'm used to children almost constantly talking as if they have a blocked nose. I'm constantly having to pin down DD (3) or order DSS (9) to blow their noses Grin

What I really hate about Mr Maker is the waste. Take £10 worth of perfectly good stuff, washing up gloves, sponges, plastic bowls... and make a big 3D piece of shit from it that decorates the kitchen for the next 8 years.

I hate Bing with a passion.

Mr Maker doesn't bother me too much, but he does use weird objects. I haven't seen any projects I've wanted to try with DD.

paxilln and GunShot - Was subjected to Mister Maker this morning, which is why I wrote this. He made a "badge" out of covering a toy racing car with glitter and a plastic milk bottle top, also covered in glitter - no comment... Angry

Duck - That songs haunts me too!

I can't be arsed with Mister Maker, but it's Waybuloo that really grips my shit. Can't bear it.

Why did he have to cut from the middle of the card?!

What's wrong with the edge?

Anyone else wishes he would fail just once during his minute makes

I like MM, but I totally think the round the world was a pointless jolly. They must have been punching the air when that one got the green light.

Waybuloos is just unwatchable. It seem to be the same episode over and over again. I have 3 young DC and not one of them can stand it. Even the 2 year old practically rolls her eyes.

They also can't stand Rastamouse or Zingzillas.

A lot of CBeebies is excellent though.

The bloody Shape song reminds me of a funny thing a couple of years ago. We were packing up for the 10.00 a.m clear out from Centerparcs and every family obviously had their kids sitting in front of Mr Maker whilst the cars were loaded.

We kept carrying out bags to the car, and I swear every parent around us was coming out of the house, with their bags singing 'I am a shape. I am a Triangle'

Funny, that was Grin

I think MM is her first ever crush.

YANBU

At all!

I've said the same on a previous cbbies ranting thread - about the cost of his round the world trip - just to stand in front of a table and do the same damn thing that he does in the UK TV studio. Waste of money.

I've made my peace with Bing.
I like Waybuloo.

What i can't stand are the soooooooooooo boring MY Story and My First type programmes that someone at the BBC insists on making. The kids just wander away from the telly as soon as they start and i don't blame them.

I don't like Mr Maker. He gives children unrealistic ideas of their parents' artistic creativity and art supplies.

I'm not 100% but I don't think he actually went around the world. Most of it looks like backdrops!! Some of it does look like be was in those places though.

My kids love My Story Grin and they're fairly keen on My first type things.

DD2 loves Twirlywoos, but DD1 gets slightly disturbed by the VIP singer? Confused

YANBU. Hate Mister Maker. Loved Tony Hart. Sigh.

YABU - DD loves him. Kids enjoy enthusiasm in their TV hosts.

Besides, I'd take MM any day as Art Attack! Had that scary head thing.

I am sure I read somewhere that the mister maker around the world was made as a showcase show to sell it around the world so that's why they went international. (Not 100%)
Mr Maker I can live with, Bing I want to kill and someone bought DC the talking toy for Christmas grrrrr

Come the revolution, Dick and Dom will be first in the firing line. Bloody hate that Diddy Dick and Dom programme. DD (6) says its very childish isn't it mummy? Fart jokes, bogies...aye hilarious - NOT, its lowest denominator humour and, dare I stoop to that level..utter crap.

[sorry but seriously pisses me off those two]

I can't stand Bing. He drives me round the twist! I daren't start that rant...

Oh you are so nbu. I saw that ridiculous waste of everything minute make before and said to dp 'that's really scraping the barrel, it looks rubbish even for a minute make'. DS likes mister makers arty party but every time I see it I just think he's just not Neil Buchanan
Bing I don't mind, occupies DS enough that I can get quite a bit done when it's on. There is a special place in hell for the makers of waybuloo, small potatoes and those my story/first programmes

I'm there with loving Tony hart and not loving mm. DD was never impressed. The one that I absolutely loathe is show me show me. The false smiles. It sets my teeth on edge. The smiles remind me of Lizzy, the exercise lady in the 80's on good morning Britain. I remember the raucous caused about her - maybe Pui should don some spandex tights and g string leotard lol.

I used to have a problem with Mister Maker because of the whole failed-local-radio-dj vibe he gives off, in addition to my loathing of Smile-Talkers (Justin and Same Smile woman, looking at you)...

However, in the CBeebies Christmas Carol panto, the camera panned along to MM when the child delivered the, 'God bless us, everyone' line, and he had the sweetest emotional face! I was touched by his investment and realised that actually he's a bit of a sweetheart. Apparently he spends ages practising the Minute Makes, too. Aww.

I did used to like Bing very much, but Flop's lax parenting (leaving the ice lolly to melt!?) and the pandering to Pando (get off the swing, you fiend!) irritate me a bit these days.
