Have labour missed an opportunity for not voting Andy Burnham as leader

Not a corbyn hater I like him and think he is very principled in his ideology. However you see how Andy Burnham has conducted himself in the last week and challenged the Hillsborough enquiries and I can't help but think what if? He has showed that he is an excellent constituency MP, he's had experience as Secretary of State and I think he wouldn't be as divisive.

Topseyt Fri 29-Apr-16 21:30:16

As a floating voter, I would be more tempted to occasionally vote Labour under Burnham than Corbyn.

BumWad Fri 29-Apr-16 21:31:18

Yes. First David Milliband and now Burnham.

Pettywoman Fri 29-Apr-16 21:32:02

You're probably right. I like Corbyn too, I hoped he'd be a breath of fresh air. I didn't think the media barrage of undermining shit would be quite this relentless.

Cheshireblue Fri 29-Apr-16 21:33:11

100% Burnham

MintyChapstick Fri 29-Apr-16 21:33:55

YANBU OP. I don't dislike Corbyn, but he's not PM material.

BombadierFritz Fri 29-Apr-16 21:35:06

Hes still young. Plenty of time yet. Regardless, he can hold his head up high. A fantastic effort.

EnthusiasmDisturbed Fri 29-Apr-16 21:43:31

Yes I would vote for Burnham wouldn't surprise me if JC was challenged next year the sooner he goes the better. I have always voted labour and would never vote for JC

I would love David Milliband to come back

Chippednailvarnish Fri 29-Apr-16 21:45:33

Definitely plenty of time for him. His renaissance is coming...

Custardo Fri 29-Apr-16 21:46:25

corbyn would have done great had he not have spin apologists dobullling their thing, that is why we voted for him to be leader. as soonas he apologises for his views he looks ike a turd, I have sent many many many replies to the labour office after some bullshit email - I can stand it = this is the reason I voted him in truth, honesty, less bullshit.

now burnham - hes a cockeyed large eyelashed - I mean larged eyelashed man, so despite his excellent week - he looks odd

Slutbucket Fri 29-Apr-16 22:04:21

Nothing wrong with eye lashes on a man. My husband has big eyelashes and he has passed this onto my kids. Glad we are getting down with the real issues! grin

ilovesooty Fri 29-Apr-16 22:09:28

100% CORBYN

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Fri 29-Apr-16 22:30:12

I quite like Andy Burnham for himself. From what I've seen of him. He comes across as a nice enough guy. However I dont think I'd rate him as a Labour Leader, after all he did vote in favour of the Tory cuts to the poor back in July, so anyone who does that. Is just a Tory light. So no. As a politician I don't like him.

EnthusiasmDisturbed Fri 29-Apr-16 22:32:13

Yesterday JC claimed there was no problem with anti-semitism in the Labour Party

Now there is going to be an inquiry

Be interesting to see if KL will be expelled of course he should be either way it's a problem for JC he was a close ally

cardibach Fri 29-Apr-16 22:36:13

Don't thi k I agree KL is anti-Semitic or should be expelled. He criticised the state of Israel. That is not anti-semitism.
Anyway, I think Labour need Corbyn now. They need to establish themselves as different from the Tories.

MrsHarveySpecter Fri 29-Apr-16 22:37:02

YANBU. I'm a Labour member and voted for Burnham. But then I voted for David Milliband.

SarahVineTory Fri 29-Apr-16 22:37:41

I voted Corbyn and don't regret it, I always thought he would be a short term leader.

Andy Burnham has impressed me, he conducted himself so well taking a post under Jeremy, Hillsborough and last night on QT. I doubt he will try again, if he did I would vote for him this time.

EnthusiasmDisturbed Fri 29-Apr-16 22:39:53

Well if he stays thats the end of JC career as the labour leader

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Fri 29-Apr-16 22:41:19

Conducting himself well is one thing. Running Great Britain is quite another.
I can conduct myself very well I'm sure most of us on this thread can. That doesn't mean I'm PM material.

SarahVineTory Fri 29-Apr-16 22:41:36

If we don't gain next week JC will be gone.

EastMidsMummy Fri 29-Apr-16 22:41:39

Andy Burnham is a cowardly careerist. Witness his decision not to vote against Tory cuts at the beginning of this parliament.

Samcro Fri 29-Apr-16 22:41:42

So he voted for the cuts and people support him

SarahVineTory Fri 29-Apr-16 22:42:39

No I missed that.

Littlecaf Fri 29-Apr-16 22:52:45

Burnham should have been leader. But I've been saying that since about 2012.

SarahVineTory Fri 29-Apr-16 22:55:53

Labour voters in my area don't like JC. I know as I have been canvassing. There is also a lot of fear.
