AIBU?

To think this is the right way to watch a TV show?

Ignore its existence or, better yet, say "meh dont think id enjoy that" to the recommenders.

Then finally watch one, get hooked and binge watch the lot.

It's happening now with Grey's Anatomy. Barely knew it existed, watched episode one a few days ago and now Im hooked.

I did the same with Modern Family - DH was insistent I watch it, "nah a mockumentary? No thanks" - bloody love it. I now hassle him to watch it.

And I actually used to refer to The Big Bang Theory as "That big bang shite" - It was aaaaalways on, and in no definable order. One day I started at the beginning and am now an addict.

Thank god there are 13 seasons of Grey's for me.

Yanbu although it doesn't work for everything - I still can't watch 10 seconds of Friends or Game of Pillocks without wanting to smash up the TV

Friends?? Really? Thats madness.

I do know someone who has never watched one episode and I did not expect it as he is a right tv/film bug. And he isnt young, he was mid/late 20s when it started.

YANBU and I say this as someone who has recently binge watched The man in the high castle, hand of God and Mr Robot. Next on my list is the last season of Justified.

I kept getting recommended Parks and Recreation by a friend and tried it, expecting to binge watch and I just couldnt get away with it.

There is a flaw in this though I did it with homeland but the cliffhanger will he blow himself up was rather ruined by knowing he was in series 2!! Same with 24.....

Did the same with girls and Hannibal recently. Can't find anything that draws me in at the moment, keep trying with game of thrones, but it just doesn't hold my attention Confused

Am I the only one that likes to take a bit of time between episodes?

I like to process it and savour it a bit. Watching them all at once would mean that it is over very quickly.

I am the queen of delayed gratification though.

Oh no way. The weekly wait between shows is grim. We are watching The Island (Bear Gryls) atm and its seeming like longer than a week between episodes.

I wish stuff qas just on every night for two weeks. Broadchurch for instance.

It doesn't always work.

I seldom watch BBC, but series-recorded "War and Peace" to watch at a later date. But it turns out that unlike most channels I watch, the BBC is exceptional in a couple of ways:-

  1. Each episode isn't repeated a few times (say after midnight) for those who miss the first broadcast, so there is no option to record a missed episode.
  2. You can download a missed episode, which is what I did for episode 1, having been slightly late with my series record instruction, but unlike Sky, who let you keep a downloaded episode for a year or two, the BBC ones auto-delete after a few weeks.

So consequently, episode 1 of "War and Peace" auto-deleted, unwatched, before the final episode was broadcast/recorded.

So now I have all of "War and Peace" except the first episode. I refuse to start from episode 2, so will probably delete the whole thing without watching it.

I did this last year with Supernatural....10 seasons, so basically 10 years worth of TV!

I'm hooked on Pretty Little Liars since I got up to date on Orange Is The New Black. It's totally ridiculous and so far fetched but very addictive! Luckily Dh is always out 2 nights a week so I can watch a few episodes a night!

I'm still trying to find the time to start watching Game of Thrones. So many to catch up on now and it keeps getting worse the longer I leave it!

I'm with the person who can't watch Friends. I've always hated it and I was a teenager when it was on so I was the only one in school who didn't watch.

I did it with House. My daughter made me do it with Supernatural (still only in season 5 though). And I may have to do it with Breaking Bad.

I did it with Downton. I assumed it was a load of old tosh then watched the whole lot in three months and was bereft when it ended!

It would only work if you were always really really late starting to watch everything Confused.

kidnapped I'm with you. Most tv is made to be watched that way! I think a great season finale is supposed to leave you claiming the walls wondering what will happen. It loses something when you immediately watch the first episode of the next season.

For example, the season 4 finale of breaking bad was excellent and extremely memorable. Most binge watchers have no idea what episode it was.

Op I am in exactly the same boat - saw on a thread on here a while ago about Grey's, never in my life had a desire to watch it but was bored so thought I would give it a go.

And now. I'm am so binged on it I practically think I'm a doctor Grin I'm up to series 7 and am really trying to avoid finding out anything that happens but with being so many series behind I feel it's impossible!
