This is just plain daft. No other word for it. It does not fill me with confidence that Mr Hunt and his people really understand what they are doing or that they have fully thought it through.

I have to declare an interest as I am a "junior" doctor, though not in England. I could go on at length about my feelings of contempt and anger towards Mr Hunt (and the DoH), but I won't.

I thought the misinformation and down-right lies they are spreading were bad enough (and unforgivable, really), but now they have added paranoid delusions into the mix.

I rather doubt the BMA or junior doctors have the political clout to "topple the government" and this was a fight the government chose to pick after all. In my view they chose to have this fight for political reasons rather than anything else. It was more of a case of "look we're getting tough on the doctors to provide the 7 day NHS we promised", whilst ignoring the fact they haven't really defined about what they really mean by "a 7day NHS", nor how they propose to fund the infrastructure or staffing that is likely to be needed. No, the important thing is they must be seen to be doing something.

The whole situation has now become about the government/JH/DoH preserving face and so even less to do with the good of the NHS and improving patent care.

I think its a tactic harking back to the anti union days of the 1980's.
It isnt going to work, because we havent just come through the 1970's with the 3 day week and electricity shortages.
So it just sounds like paranoia.

They have gone too far because they think Labour is weak and misjudged the public.

Many a doctor has pissed me off over the years I am not their biggest fan and I feel for those suffering disruption. No way would I ask the doctors back down. They are the blockage of the government from doing the same to other HCP's and dismantle the rest of the NHS. It's also a misogynistic attack.
