It seems a very unpopular view amongst my friends and colleagues, and possibly amongst fellow mumsnetters, but I don't care. She's 90 and she's still out working hard with good humour.

God save the Queen and other unpopular platitudes

YANBU OP - I completely agree with you. star

I like her. Much more than charles!

phoolani Thu 21-Apr-16 22:18:54

I have very mixed feelings about monarchy, mainly negative, but I have an affection for queenie; as far as being a queen goes, I think she's done it pretty well.

I think she is fabulous!! And whilst my feelings are lukewarm towards Charles normally, having watched the BBC1 documentary this evening I actually think he is quite lovely too

Long live Her Maj.

She's not so popular in some parts of the UK.

LuluJakey1 Thu 21-Apr-16 22:22:40

I admire her and have affection for her- and the Duke of Edinburgh. Happy Birthday !

Wonderful woman, dutiful, loyal and dignity personified

Charles gets a bad rap. He does a lot for wildlife and the Prince's Trust is amazing. I like them all in their different ways and the BBC1 programme was very touching. The Queen works very hard and deserves every bit of birthday fuss.

mrsmuddlepies Thu 21-Apr-16 22:25:57

I agree. She always does her best and has a huge sense of duty. She is completely amazing for 90. Long may she reign!

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes Thu 21-Apr-16 22:26:05

She has beautiful taste in hats.

Hassled Thu 21-Apr-16 22:27:06

My head says we should be a republic - my heart says she's an amazing woman with an inspiring sense of duty who has contributed a huge amount to the country. I worry for Charles - he seems like a nice man, but he'll never have the same level of goodwill.

God save our gracious Queen...

She is the boss of the family

and she was rather thrown into the job.

another Charles fan here as well

NoahVale Thu 21-Apr-16 22:37:14

And Ann, I like her
and Princess Margaret's daughter, Sarah, I didnt know her at all

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig Thu 21-Apr-16 22:40:15

I think she does a marvellous job and I hope I'm as fit as her when I'm 90.

LuluJakey1 Thu 21-Apr-16 22:55:22

I thought Sarah Chatto was very nice- seemed like a very gentle character.

LuluJakey1 Thu 21-Apr-16 22:57:07

I like Charles as well. I was very struck by the normaility and unstuffiness of their childhood activities - all generations.

Samcro Thu 21-Apr-16 22:58:53

we just watched the tv show. she is amazing and god save her
the idea of shiney and his silly wife being the main people thanks

DioneTheDiabolist Thu 21-Apr-16 23:04:48

She's a 90yo working woman who conducts herself with dignity, grace and professionalism. YANBU OP.

HildaOgdensMuriel Thu 21-Apr-16 23:08:26

Op I agree.

(And as a youth I was anti monarchy and was properly mortified to be present at a toast to the monarch at a formal dinner.

I have grown up now!)

Long live the Queen!

ineedaholidaynow Thu 21-Apr-16 23:14:25

I thought Sarah Chatto seemed lovely.

Really enjoyed the programme tonight watching their old home movies.
