I can't look at him without thinking of what Prince Charles once said about him. "Odious little man", or something? Imagine being the BBC's Royal correspondent and knowing that's what they think of you Grin

Exactly HOW wonderful is the Queen, Prince William?

I can't forget the fact Charles was overhead calling him an "awful man" whom he couldn't stand. His self respect must be non existent if he can overlook that and continue to suck up to them.

Hasn't he just shown Wullie to be the lazy sod he is?

And did he not ask what does Kate do? (Only half-listening).

William looked like a giant next to him. Speaks exactly like his mum.

Why did Nicholas Witchell end up with that crappy royal correspondent job anyway? Had he done something to get up someone's nose at the BBC?

Catmuffin · 20/04/2016 22:22

I can never understand how he continued dealing with the royals after the odious comment. Wouldn't he have been better off changing his role?

It all looked like a careful PR exercise.

A ha ha ha ha! We have just been commenting on this. Not sure I could stay in that job after what happened with Charles and the mic. No self respect, clearly!

He's a bit of a Uriah Heep character. And really how much is there to say about the royal family that your whole career is dedicated to reporting on them?

Being the BBC's tiddlywinks correspondent would be more riveting.

I have met Nicholas NW on a few occasions, and he was always charming and pleasent.

My SIL used to fancy him, and may still do, as far as I know. Now, IMO, she was being unreasonable.

His fawning sophistry in every story (or non-story) to do with those fucking leeches the royal family really gets on my tits. If you look up shitcunt in any reputable dictionary, you will find Nick's photo. He is basically a mouthpiece regurgitating palace spin.

I dunno, I don't remember Diana's voice being quite so deep. To be fair, though, I only heard a fragment of the interview on the radio, so he might have gone higher later on or something.

This was exactly my thought but he was so clearly trying not to upset William so had to ask about his work life balance in such a roundabout way.

I can't believe in these economically tough times William feels it's acceptable not to work but to devote time to his family (with his wife and teams of staff to support him). Its shows how privileged the royals are and the massive sense of entitlement that they have.

If the Royal job was so tough do we really think they would continue to do it? I don't see them willing to give up Royal status to live an upper middle class lifestyle.

I just wish the Royals would stop whining about how tough life is and just tell the truth - they are so fortunate and lucky to live such a comfortable life with very little real life responsibity.

I can't imagine someone asking the Queen similar questions at William's age.

I started to feel more republican than I have ever felt before, once he started banging on about relevance. FFS, the main function of the Monarchy is surely to keep permatan Tony Blair and the like from lording it over us as Presidents.

William was annoying.

Bringing the children up, making them good people.
Most people manage that and a full time job.

He reminds me a bit of Mr Burns from The Simpsons.

No one will forget that Charles hates him; he should've moved to a different role with his dignity intact.

I can't stand all this royal fawning. All that news coverage today over frigging postage stamps. Ludicrous.

Stopped watching halfway through as it was soooo boring. I wish he had some fire in him, in fact either of them!
