DD and 2 other Y6 girls gone to play at a disused quarry turned-beauty spot and woods a mile away from the village.Quite isolated with a popular trail with runners and dog walkers about 200m away
They will be fine, yes?

Did you send Lassie with them to keep an eye out?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 11/04/2016 14:53

Well I wouldn't have.

Do they have a phone between them?

Report
catewood21 · 11/04/2016 14:54

She hasn't a phone, I doubt there is any signal. But there are 3 of them

I wouldn't have, but I err on the side of caution, by quite a lot according to MN.

I wouldn't have either. Is there water in the quarry? Too young IMHO

They will be fine, children playing in the fresh air, like they should do. Much better than sitting in front of screens.

I spent my yoof running around Dartmoor and the woods with friends and siblings - I don't see a problem with it.

I wouldn't worry about it. If she wasn't sensible you wouldn't have let her go in the first place and there are three of them. She will be off to secondary on her own in a few months. At some point you have to let them do these things. It would be nice to wrap them up forever! But you wouldn't be doing her any favours.

Unless you live in Midsomer County in which case dear god what were you thinking?!

no water,I would guess it has probably been disused for about 100 years.

We were often way out of sight and sound of home across the fields at this age, as long as it is fenced off where there are drops etc and they are sensible I can't see the harm.

They will be fine.
Blimey, I was only 6 months older and heading off to high school and had to make my way there and back on my own.
It was not close.
A walk, a bus, another walk, another bus and another walk.
I would however, have wanted them to have a phone between them.

I think I've seen this episode of CSI already. The murderer was the special guest star.

No, seriously OP, it really depends on how responsible your DD and her friends are. Do they have form for being kidnapped from public places?

Do you live in Midsomer, OP?

What age is Y6 please?

Report
calamityjam · 11/04/2016 15:10

Age 10/11

Report
catewood21 · 11/04/2016 15:21

No they have never been kidnapped before, and we do not live in Midsomer so that is good. On the less good side they have made bows and arrows and are chanelling Katniss Everdeen in the hunger games!

Should be fine - three is a good number. If someone gets hurt like a twisted ankle then one can stay with and one can go for help.

They are 11 and together? And a mere two football fields away (200m)?

They'll be fine.

OurBlanche · 11/04/2016 15:31

Yay! That's one set of kids having a proper childhood then!

Katniss is probably a great game to play in any quarry/wooded area Smile
