AIBU?

To think DP is a filthy bastard!

We have a separate shower room from the bathroom.

I never shower, morning bath instead. DC bath. DP is the only one who uses the shower. To be fair to him he does a manual job and comes home minging so the first thing he does is shower when he comes home.

I've just been in the shower room for the first time in about 6 months. Oh my fucking god it is FILTHY. Like properly bloody minging. I think there's stuff growing in the shower. Black mould, hair, pubes Envy

I've just called him to ask WTF and he laughed and said yeah I wouldn't look in the cupboard if I were you. I've just looked and it's full of empty toiletries that he's chucked in there.

I told him he could fuck off if he thinks I'm cleaning it and said meh I don't really mind it Hmm

I'm closing the bloody door and not going back in AIBU?!

Yanbu. He's being disgusting.

YANBU not to clean it but YABU to leave it like that. Black mould is a health hazard. And disgusting. Even if I wasn't using a room in my house, I would still mind if it was sprouting new life forms.

He needs to clean it.

He's just text saying he'll do it tonight and he was wondering when I'd notice Hmm

The mould looks like it's growing on the shower screen, from soap scum!

Grim grim grim

Yes katharrina but he needs to clean it, not her!

How could you have never looked in there?
I can't comprehend not knowing what's going on cleanliness wise in my house.

YANBU to expect him to keep it clean, but YABU to just ignore it.

Why is she being unreasonable to ignore it Bo?

I don't shower. The kids don't shower. I've no need to go in there it's round the other side of the house.

I only went in there because DP has lost his belt and I thought it might be in there. He has a box for his clothes that he works in and brings it out on a Sunday to be washed.

No need to go in there just to look!

Bo there's a bedroom in my house I never go in because it's OH work space. No idea what state it's in!

He's just text and said 'the lightbulb went about 2 months ago, it's usually dark in there tbh'!

What the actual fuck? It's weird because he is scrupulously clean in himself!

Ignore it. His mess, his cleaning and he can presumably re-grout the tiles and do any other maintenance needed after he's realised that letting the mould get the upper hand is not a good idea.

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 11/04/2016 12:35

Yuk. Make him clean it and clean it properly!

It's obviously up to him to keep it clean, and he should clean it, I agree.
I just personally wouldn't ignore something in my own house like that, it's foul.
My opinion only, but OP brought up the subject of a disgusting shower room with mould etc in her house, not me.

Perhaps it's just because I don't live in a house with loads of rooms/floors (just a bog standard 3 bed semi), but there is no room in my house that I don't/can't go in.

Maybe you can buy him a special set of detergents for the purpose. Put it into a bucket, wrap it nicely, and hand it to him with the necessary grand gestures.

Get him some dettol mould and mildew remover to spray all over the shower area. Might need to leave it a few hours to work though

Spray a dettol mould and mildew remover all over the shower now. Then it can be cleaned in the evening. Yuck.

Report
HumphreyCobblers · 11/04/2016 13:08

Yes, I would hold my nose and spray dettol or bleach all around so he has no choice but to get on and give it a clean when he gets in.

Report
KatharinaRosalie · 11/04/2016 13:14

Vince yes I agree, I meant someone has to clean it, and it's not U for this not to be her. So it should be either magical cleaning fairies, or DH.

Report
Inertia · 11/04/2016 13:46

That's grim.

Agree with posters above - 'help' by spraying mould removing bleach, so that a) it has time to work, and b) he has to clean before he uses it.

SquinkiesRule · 11/04/2016 13:48

Green bottle of Astonish mold and mildew remover will sort it. Tell him to spray and walk away for a bit.
He'll still need to scrub it.
Sadly if he knew to spray this stuff all over each week, nothing would grow and the soap scum then disperses and cleaning is a doddle.

He's having daily mould showers?! And is ok with that? Ergh.

Nooooooo! HG Mould Spray is what he needs. Don't even need to scrub - grotty stuff just vanishes like magic. I'm evangelical about the stuff.
