AIBU?

Gogglebox Scarlett's swearing

DextersMistress · 08/04/2016 21:50

Now I'm a sweary fucker, but I find watching her swearing sooo much to her parents quite uncomfortable to watch.

The odd word is one thing but her stream of fuckings seems disrespectful to me. Might just be because I don't swear in front of my mum, despite her language being akin to Gordon Ramsey stubbing his toe Grin

Aibu?

The Michaels kids are the same come to think of it. Maybe I'm the odd one.

I find the swearing in front of parents a bit much too

I don't either Apocalypse, I think the way her parents fawn over her and hang on every word is cringeworthy.

My kids don't swear like that in front of me and vice versa

I don't have a problem with Scarlett, but I would have a problem with my own kids doing it. Her parents seem to be in absolute thall to her anyway. Strangely.

Maybe your not really a Sweary Fucker. You may need to down grade to Slightly Expletive Wanker or even Occasional Rude Worded So and So.

Bet there's a test. Probably on Facebook.

doesn't bother me remotely. gogglebox families seem to all get on very well and we as a family swear too much sometimes.

No I don't either, but her parents sit there and smile indulgently as if her comments were a heady mix of Confucius and Dorothy Parker.

However she's far from my most disliked family. I can't say they are my least favourite family. The UKIP family (especially the Dad), The Tapper's mum and that posh bloke who looks like Edward from the league of gentlemen and Alan Bennett's lovechild irritates me far more.

Can't say I've noticed the swearing though.

I quite like Scarlett. She's a feminist even if she doesn't know it.

We all swear like troopers too.

I don't swear infront of my mum though and I'm 50.

I only hope my kids are comfortable enough to swear freely infront of me as adults. I still dont do it in front of my parents. They wouldnt like it anyway but i dont have a problem with swearing. I swear a lot.

I think it's weird that they're her parents. Some of the things she comes out with are very witty and unintentionally clever and they're just a pair of absolute drips! Wonder where she gets her sense of humour from tbh

I get the impression scarletts parents are a bit bewildered by her. Like she is a house guest and they dont really know her well enough to tell her to shut up so smile and nod politely and look at each other for reassurance that she is actually mad Grin
