Bastard dunelm website

Is this right? What a fucking waste of time if so. I've just spent ages going through selecting bedding for my DS online, was quite excited to see a memory foam mattress topper half price so added that too, then added some extra pillowcases to get it above £49 to get free delivery. Then when I go to check out, there is still a delivery charge; seems some items are not available for home delivery. Ok, never mind, I'll do click & collect instead. Try to select collection but it wants to do a stock check first. I choose my local store, and surprise surprise no stock of the topper and another item. Or anywhere else in a 50 mile radius.
Is this not a massive con?! So web advertises half price topper (not available online), only if you live near a mystery store that has stock, the location of which they are not disclosing!! Could they not draw attention to this on the item details page.
Am irrationally annoyed about this. Considering binning the rest of the order in a strop.

I wasn't even aware that Dunelm had a website, they must have been dragged kicking and screaming in to the modern age. When my in laws lived in Hereford I used to love a rummage through their shop as we didn't have one near us.

If I was you is cancel the order but I'm not a very forgiving sort.

Most shops are the same, Argos certainly are. I've found sale things in the past that have been advertised as available on their website, not for home delivery and then not been able to find said item in a 100 mile radius of where I live. They must have a branch on the moon!

You have just reminded me why I have never successfully bought anything from Dunelm website. Every so often I forget how rubbish it is and get sucked in. Thank you for the reminder!!

I hate the Dunelm website, barely anything is available for online delivery, or so it would appear when I try. Confused

Had a similar experience from Argos last week with a PS4 deal that was only in store, no stock in the whole of South London. Nearly £100 more to buy online.

Yep. I've had similar with Dunhelm and Argos.

I vaguely remember a few years ago happily ordering a load of matching bedding for DCs twin beds (pay online and collect at store) (douvet sets plus extra sheets plus quilted throws), only to discover once i went to pick it all up that a big portion of what i ordered was 'out of stock' everywhere and wouldn't be available for bloody weeks.

Angry

Don't tell me it's in stock when it isn't!

Dunelm website is the pits, nothing ever seems to be for delivery. If I wanted to drive miles to the nearest store for click and collect I wouldn't bother looking online first!!

Argos are awful for this, especially when they have offers like 3 for 2 on toys. Suddenly half their stock isn't available at any local stores. And then when I was in their store looking to buy some small paw patrol toys they were 'home delivery only' - why, for some little toys?? Are you a shop or an online retailer, make your frigging mind up if you can't manage to do both well!

Sorry massive rant and derail. I too am surprised dunelm even have a website. Cancel the order and stick the virtual 2 fingers up at them!

Drives me mad too. I ordered lots of stuff at Christmas only to discover( at the check out)that most of it was not available for home delivery. We are miles away from a store so no hope of collecting even if things were in stock. Areal waste of time.

Its the same most places.

However for future reference you can put your postcode in on any items page and it will then tell you at that point if its available at your closest store. It will also rember that closest store for any other items you click on in that browsing session. I only noticed after I'd had trouble once.

Next do this - at the end - it's also possible it was in stock but someone else put it in their basket and paid first - Arrrrrggggh

I asked Dunelm about his and their reply was that shop stock and warehouse stock are different and not interchangeable, and to keep checking back to see if said item re-appeared in the warehouse (and hence was then available for home delivery)

Thanks everyone for the solidarity. I will remember the postcode tip if I stop sulking enough to start again. But I will probably just order from Amazon instead who clearly state on the product page whether it is in stock or not!

If you want a mattress topper, get one from Amazon.

I paid £35 for a 3 inch thick double one earlier this week. Its fantastic.

Wow ok thanks I will have a look. I have one and love it, so was attempting to get a single for my DS.

I have a no nonsense approach to any store that wants to give me the run around. Spread your grievance around on online review sites, also tell all and sundry how bad they are by word of mouth. Dunelm are expensive anyway, earth quids go a lot further at Amazon.
