Minor but aibu?

At cinema the other day. There's this huge cut out style poster for the BFG. The little girl in the film is a cut out too with her skirts rising up behind her.

Ds2 aged 6 thought it funny to put his hand 'up' her skirt. H thought this hilarious and took photos.

I thought it seriously unfunny and said so and well, what a pc bore I am. Small spat ensued. Nice.

I would have thought you were a bit grumpy. It's only a cardboard cutout most people would know you wouldn't do the same to a real girl

Woulda six year old know? How?

I'm a bore like you then as I wouldn't have found this funny either.

I wouldn't have found it funny either.

YANBU. If you are a grump then so am I. That shit falls under the same umbrella as hair pulling, pushing in the playground, "he's mean because he likes you". It's bullshit.

I wouldn't have found it funny at all.

I wouldn't be bothered about a 6 year old being silly. I would be very pissed off if H encouraged it by taking photos. I'd have had a spat with H too.

YANBU. Your DH should not have encouraged it.

It must be just me then, I can't get worked up by offending a bit of cardboard

It's not just a bit of fun though, is it? He's learning about how boys treat girls and men treat women. His dad shouldn't have encouraged this.

I said it was a dick thing to do.

I'd be more bothered about the husband encouraging it rather than the 6 year old being daft.

Taking photos is bloody weird.

I would be pissed off too it's like someone said it's teaching him how men treat women. Taking photos is just knobbish

liquidrevolution · 06/04/2016 10:07

not funny. At 6 a child will translate this as being acceptable.

Your DH is a dick.

I agree OP, it's not funny.

A six year old is just messing about and I wouldn't think too much of it. I would've told him not to do it & explained to him that it was inappropriate.

However, I'd have been very pissed off if my DH had encouraged it and would've told him so in no uncertain terms.

It would encourage disrespectful attitude so definitely not funny.

shovetheholly · 06/04/2016 10:09

YANBU! I know he's 6 and has no clue what he's doing, but that kind of encouragement and boys-will-be-boys attitude is not something to encourage

Yanbu I can't believe your Dh found it funny to do that. If I saw a dad and son doing that I would have been disgusted at both and given them a dirty look.

I thought this was going to be about Michael Mcintyre (or Harry Hill)

That's really not nice. Your DH should be guiding DS on values and behaviour - and that behaviour is inappropriate.
