To think my P is fucking weird

Went out shopping today as a family with kids, had lunch then mooched around shops - I took kids around toy section in shop while P could look in clothes shops mostly.

He was taking a while so I called him and said I'll meet you in car (in car park) when he's done he said ok.

Waited in car for 45 MINUTES total and went to call him to say hurry up as kid getting fractious but he called me at that moment asking where I was. Turns out he had got the bus home! Who does that? sad angry
Apparently he said he'll meet me at home twice he didn't

I was actually really upset and pissed off still am

Aibu to think if you go out as a family you come home together? And I'm annoyed I didn't get to buy one thing for myself that I needed due to having both kids. I think he's really quite odd.

Sounds like a case of crossed wires.

molyholy Sun 03-Apr-16 19:52:00

That is strange. Does he do other weird shit?

sooperdooper Sun 03-Apr-16 19:54:50

That's bloody weird confused

AnchorDownDeepBreath Sun 03-Apr-16 19:55:33

I'm firmly on the fence here... I'd usually agree that if you go together you come back together, but you weren't actually together and that's unusual too... You essentially went together to do different things and as you finished at different times, it made sense for him to come home.

Communication might be an issue - he should have been clear about where he was meeting you, and you should have asked him to take one or both children if you needed to shop and wanted to do it without them, but that's separate to the offence of leaving. I don't think it's that bad on the face of it. Keeping you all waiting for him intentionally would have been rude.

Spandexpants007 Sun 03-Apr-16 19:57:06

Does he usually do that sort of thing?

A one off misunderstanding is ok but I must admit its a bloody odd thing to do

HeartShapedBox Sun 03-Apr-16 19:57:36

I'd be really pissed off in your shoes.

99percentchocolate Sun 03-Apr-16 19:59:08

Yeah, that's a bit odd.

Fugghetaboutit Sun 03-Apr-16 20:01:06

I do agree with you Anchor and next time I'll give him the older child. I was actually waiting outside the shop for him to come and get ds but he was taking so long and the baby was crying I called and said I'll meet you in the car, he said ok.

It must've been crossed wires but why go home alone anyway.

He does act like a single bloke sometimes and it pisses me off. Swanning around getting his shit done while I'm left with the kids. Next time he can go and take one with him.

Fugghetaboutit Sun 03-Apr-16 20:02:27

I did burst into tears when he said he had got the bus home, not sure why probably baby hormones

Houseworkavoider Sun 03-Apr-16 20:05:09

I would be really quite pissed off.
Do you genuinely think it was crossed wires though. If it was a muddle up, I would find it funny and be taking the piss forever more!
You know him.

UsernameIncorrect Sun 03-Apr-16 20:05:36

He didn't want to be with you.

Houseworkavoider Sun 03-Apr-16 20:08:34

Ask him why he's been so selfish.
I don't blame you for crying sad

Fugghetaboutit Sun 03-Apr-16 20:10:08

I never really think he does, User, but cheers !

Inertia Sun 03-Apr-16 20:14:53

I don't think it was crossed wires- I reckon he didn't fancy having the children to look after while you did your shopping. Next time, leave him with both and do your shopping first.

BirthdayBetty Sun 03-Apr-16 20:16:21

Yanbu, that is fucking weird.

Fugghetaboutit Sun 03-Apr-16 20:17:07

I'm certain if he said he'll meet me at home twice I would have heard.

Just find it really odd.

PPie10 Sun 03-Apr-16 20:17:07

Yanbu, Did he not think you would need help with the kids or anything? How odd. Don't blame you for being upset.

Fugghetaboutit Sun 03-Apr-16 20:18:21

Yes, some help would've been nice. 3 year old and 3 month old. Lots of bags and heavy buggy.

I was very tempted not to pay for parking and give him the fine but didn't.

VagueIdeas Sun 03-Apr-16 20:21:05

So you arrived together, in the car, and we took it upon himself to get the bus alone?

Sounds like he wanted some me time. I would have been raging too.

VulcanWoman Sun 03-Apr-16 20:23:16

Lying and doing something else.

Fugghetaboutit Sun 03-Apr-16 20:24:33

Like what? He was waiting outside the house when I got back as he didn't have keys.

Yes, Vague he's very me me me

junebirthdaygirl Sun 03-Apr-16 21:07:28

Does he get mixed up about where is is supposed to be much? That sort of mixing up can be part of dyspraxia. Otherwise it is weird

CaffeineBomb Sun 03-Apr-16 21:13:54

Nice Userhmm op it sounds like a case of crossed wires but YANBU to be upset he should have taken one of the DC and made sure you had time to get what you needed

VulcanWoman Sun 03-Apr-16 21:20:39

How much time from when you left him to when you got back to the house.
