We have been married twenty years
Last few have been rocky we don't row but the bedroom has stopped
I have put a bit of weight on
He is not the romantic type
Anyhow ATM I have a lot on, terminally ill parent family all usual stuff,
He was having a bit of stress at work
Works for a big company has done all his working life
Cue he went sick with stress right at same time as my parent has taken a bad turn
We have had a week away with kids and he's come home now saying he's going to jack this in and go contracting at the other end of the country

He just throws things out there that in my opinion are pretty major, no convo
Just
Right I'm off sick
Right I think I will leave
Right I am gonna go contracting miles away

Kids are 18 and 15
I feel like he just wants to push me far enough to leave I just don't know what is going on anymore I am trying to be supportive I also have the usual stressful job etc but I just don't know what to do I have tried to talk , make suggestions offer support
Any ideas?

I don't know sorry but don't think it's necessary a mid-life crisis! Perhaps your dh thinks that working away might be a good way of supporting you? I have friends whose DHs' do contracting work and earn loads more as a result. They have a good quality of life as their DH is away during the week whilst they are busy working but have quality time together at weekends. The money makes it all worthwhile! Perhaps your DH is thinking on those lines and is not being selfish?
