Husband is yet again moaning there is nothing in the house to eat bloody lies just nothing he currently wants

I have told him and ds that as I am left to do the weekly shop alone often not even having help to get the fucking stuff out of the car

And of course the fact that I am not a mind reader

If they don't come with me I can take a guess and what snacks they might like in the coming week but if you choose to sit at home your pretty much going to get what I choose.

Aibu

We currently have
Fruit
5 Diffrent kinds of cereal
Crisps
Hot cross buns
Pot noodles
Hummus
Cucumber
Dip
Chorizo
Smacked sausge

That's just a few things I can think of the top of my head sitting here

Really gets my goat and I can still hear him muttering away like the cupboards are bare

YANBU at all, he can either help with the shopping of STFU. What's stopping him going to a shop now and buying something to eat - are you on a tight budget or is there nowhere open?

Catvsworld · 28/03/2016 20:22

Smoked sauage lol

Update

He's now making little pizzas with the muffins from the freezer and left over chorizo and smoked sauage but still muttering about not having anything to eat Hmm

Theres nothing there that could be turned into a hot evening meal. That list would be a lunch menu in our house.

In that case that's clearly enough and they are being unreasonable, (too busy half watching Guy Martin on TV Smile)

Make him do the shopping next week.

Tell him to smack his own sausage tonight as you won't be doing it.

Have a bath and a bottle of wine with the door locked.

Why does he need to go shopping with you for you to get what he wants? Can't you ask him before you go out?

Caveat: I utterly hate doing the shopping with DH. I've got my own routine, I'd rather just get on with it without him asking about what I'm buying, and dashing off and putting stuff in the trolley that we don't need.

I could deal with even the most persistent munchies perfectly adequately from that list. Salt fat and stodge in abundance. WTF is he complaining about?

Report
HicDraconis · 28/03/2016 21:13

DH does the weekly shop with no help from me whatsoever. Mostly this is because I'm at work 7:30am-6:30pm and he likes to go in the day during the week when the shops are quieter.

And yet there are always things in the cupboard that I like to eat. DH knows what I like, he knows me well enough to know what sort of extras I like to have available as well as ingredients for evening meals and he makes sure there is always plenty of food for the whole family, not just himself because he does the shopping. I am the only one that drinks fruit teas, for example, but every week he will check the boxes and buy more if he thinks I am running low and likely to run out.

Maybe I am very lucky, but your comments seem to view your relationship as a battle and not a partnership. Why wouldn't you pick up some snacks that your DP would like while you are doing the weekly shop?

Haha he should come to my house. There's some stale hot cross buns in the bread bin and some dried up apples in the fruit tray. After that it's toddler DS' fruity snack things or his chocolate bunny which DH is clearly eyeing up. That's an amazing amount of food! !

Yanbu. Every week I do an online shop.Every week I ask dh and ds for any suggestions or requests - they say nothing. Every week I get complaints that there's nothing to eat Angry

Hic

I think OP did say "I can try and guess what they might like", so it does sound like she tries to get things her OH might like.

Of course she could ask what he wants. On the other hand, if OPs OH is not happy with the selection she has bought he could offer suggestions of things he would like her to get or give her specific things he would like her to get?

Report
AugustaFinkNottle · 28/03/2016 21:40

Sure her DH could make suggestions, if he knows when she's going shopping. Essentially it's an issue that could very easily be solved with a bit of communication. Or a whiteboard or something in the kitchen on which everyone can write what shopping is needed.

Do you know what i do? when am doing the shopping? when ive done it all i will get home, get out the car and come in the house and sit down lol

CocktailQueen · 28/03/2016 21:43

Could you do an online shop? Ask everyone what they would like and give them a deadline. Then if they haven't suggested anything, they don't get anything.

We have a blackboard in the kitchen too where we all write what we want on it.

Yanbu, by the way. There are snacks there.
