AIBU?

To be utterly brassed off to open new Aways to find they are SCENTED!

I seem to recall another thread about this not long ago - maybe it's still going, I don't know. Anyway - opened a new pack of Always an hour ago, my only pack, only to find they were SCENTED. There was NOTHING on the pack to indicate this and I am SO pissed off! Due to period pain I'm not up to going out again to buy more and will have to do the old fashioned thing tonight and use cloths. I have ONE unscented one left to see me through tomorrow morning.

I am so annoyed about this. I have a Twitter account that I've never used - am even thinking of utilising that to rant about this. Not sure how to go about it as not sure about Twitter.....

There's no way on earth I'm whacking that next to my fanjo.

Bastards.

I spend ages sniffing the packets before buying them for my DD's (I use a mooncup thankfully), must look demented but id rather that then the weird chemical scented pads.

This is an actual offense against womanhood. I dread to think what self hatred this engenders amongst young women. It's a fuching disgrace.

YANBU
They are awful. I have no idea who trialled them and decided scented was the way to go (probably men), because I don't know anyone who picks them up, thinks "ooh, they smell of strong chemically flowers, just what I want in my knickers!".

Bodyform are good.

I swear the last time I used a scented pad it felt like I had thrush afterwards, never again!

WTF - are all Always scented now across the board?? They are the only brand I have EVER bought. I've had to use others in emergencies, but have never liked them. Fucked if I want scented ones!

I use lil lets towels. Sometimes struggle to fine places that stick them but they are aimed at teenagers so aren't scented.

They are revolting. I used Always for years but no longer buy them because even the ones that don't openly declare they are scented smell fucking awful. Just what I want when I'm having my period - a pad that smells like a car air freshener and makes my fanjo itchy to boot.

Poundland is your friend. My local one stocks Bodyform, Lilets and Kotex pads all of which are unscented.

I bought some scented towels by accident a few months ago.

It did say scented on the pack but I didn't have my reading glasses with me and assumed they were just normal.

They smelled a bit weird but kind of OK so I used one. Then OMFG, when the blood hit the towel, it smelled absolutely fucking rank!!

So it actually made an otherwise normal period really smelly.

I've stopped buying Always - I spent 5 minutes sniffing packets!! Settled with Bodyfirm but they aren't as good - so I've brought Superdrug own brand to try next month - (Superdrug have a 100% non quibble policy if you don't like them). I used the Always scented ones for one period and I've had 'issues' since Easter Sad

A twitter campaign is a good idea. Unfortunately I too have an account I can't wprk out how to use. Blush

I'm not buying them anymore either, they are absolutely vile. I can't think why they have done this? It can't be making them more popular, the smell is horrible, even walking past that part of the shelf in the supermarket stinks.

Boots on brand aren't scented. And they're cheaper.

Problem with the always scent is it makes me immediately think of sanitary bins, as that is where the smell is at its most potent. Which is not the smell I want to be carrying around with me. And they're so strong now that you can smell them through clothes, so you might as well hang a little sign around your neck saying you're on your period.

I too have used Always for years but have switched to Bodyform or supermarket own brand as they're unscented. Always do an unscented in a black wrapper with pink ribbons, but they're more expensive than the scented type, so fuck that.

It's a disgrace; trying to imply that menstration is so icky it has to be covered up with rank, thrush-inducing scent. Blatantly anti-female in a patently female product. I'd managed 20 years without artificial scent that brought on thrush, what on earth made them think I want it now?

I'm allergic to most scented things. Candles bring on an asthma attack. As do most cleaning products and I can't get into a car that has an air freshener in it. Family and friends know to move air freshener if I call in as I'm getting worse as I'm getting older.

For me, walking past sanpro aisle is now as much a no-no as the candle aisle. All down to Always as far as I can make out (can't stand there long enough to see if other brands are as guilty as Always).

I'm gutted as they do seem to be the best out there, though I'm using Sainsbury's own at the mo and at least they're cheaper. I've also had luck finding unscented Carefree, but even their scented aren't as revoltingly strong as Always.

So agree with the poster who thinks they're an insult to women.

I complained on the Supersavvyme site, but I think it got ignored. Wonder if they'll listen when someone takes them to court for a severe alleric reaction?

So glad I use a mooncup/ am on the mini pill so don't have periods. I'd never ever get rid of my already ridiculously frequent thrush otherwise. Idiots, who even thought it would be a good idea!

Stocked up on Lilets towels (and tampons) last week - they were on offer in Boots for £1 per pack. Teen and adult ones. Lilet towels def not scented.

Bought Always, despite dodgy sniffing in the supermarket aisle, thinking they were unscented but they absolutely reek. Will never buy them again.

YANBU, I bought some always and used them for my first period after having dc2 last year and I got thrush! Ever since then I've not felt right down there. There was no indication that they are now scented on the packet or anything - I think that's a disgrace personally. If you're going to make scented sanpro then at least advertise the fact! I feel I've been duped by them and I no longer trust Always as a brand so I've switched to body form instead. I found sainsburys pads were okay too for the price.

Boycott them I say.

I like Bodyform but picked up a scented version today by accident and am equally raging. I've checked the Boots website and I think at the moment Bodyform still do unscented as well as this new shit. Hope it continues...
