Living room not lounge
Breakfast-lunch-dinner not breakfast-dinner-tea
Pudding not dessert

How do you say it and which ones annoy you?

NickNacks Tue 22-Mar-16 19:49:45

Actually it's sitting room 😜

Terrible when posters don't put a complete sentence in

Pyjamaramadrama Tue 22-Mar-16 19:50:53

Yes I think sitting room is actually correct. Lounge annoys the hell out of me.

Is any of it a regional thing?

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat Tue 22-Mar-16 19:51:01

Agree except for pudding. Only puddings are pudding. You can't call fruit/ice cream/yogurt pudding.

Actually, it's breakfast-lunch-supper.... grin

Lounge! I really dislike sitting room!

Breakfast lunch and tea (if cold) and dinner (if hot)

My Canadian friend came to dinner and asked what she could bring. I said pudding. She brought pudding.

She was very confused as to why I was asking for pudding. I have to say dessert now.

Breakfast lunch tea
Lounge (for lounging around in. Sitting room also makes sense but nobody healthy lives in there!)

I actually forgot all about the word pudding until my mother said it one day a few weeks back and I was suddenly remiscenf of being a kid and saying "what's for pudding?" Or it'd be "what's for afters?" Alas I lost that word over the years. It's quite a jolly word isn't it. Pudding.

West Yorkshire btw grin.
