Aibu to ask my partner not to wear this?

My partner has several items of clothing that him and ex have matching items T-shirts, shorts ect Embroidered or printed relating to various stages in their relationship / Wedding day. I have no issue with him keeping stuff like this. I understand it's a period in both of our lives you cannot just forget.
I myself have a wedding dress at my mothers as well as a couple of wedding gifts which are personalised but have chosen to keep there until I decide what to do.

When we moved in I put them all at the back of the wardrobe neatly when I sorted all our clothes and he questioned where they had gone, I said that where they were and why (I did it basically because I didn't expect him to want to wear them but he obviously does). I know all about the reasons behind them and the backstories he couldn't help telling me and it's made it worse for me when he wears them.

Aibu to politely ask him not to wear these things?

No yanbu. Completely understandable and reasonable not to want him to wear them. He's with you now, the part of his life he spent with his ex is in the past and should remain there.

I don't think YBU at all but am intrigued as to what they are... Are we talking a teeshirt that has "Darren n Jane Wedding Weeking '08" on? And why on earth does he want to wear such an item? Have you asked him? That's really odd.

He wore matching clothing with his ex? Does he have any redeeming qualities?

You're not being unreasonable to ask him not to wear them. I can't imagine why he would want to.

TheyABU to have ever worn matching clothes Grin

It depends I guess, if it's just random clothes it's not too bad but if they say 'DP AND EX wedding day 2002' then YADNBU!

It's weird to get matching clothes in the first place. Makes me think of Roy and Haley from Corrie.

Maybe its just me - but its weird that he has them in the first place. Matching embroidered t-shirts and shorts?

Weird to have them, weird to wear them and even weirder to wear them after the end of the relationship.

They are just clothes.

Get over it.

Or do you have such little faith in your relationship?

Actually. I can't imagine someone with embroidered clothing so ignore me.

Even though I can't really imagine the kinds of clothing items you're talking about (any pic examples you could post?) YANBU at all.

What types of occasions does he think are appropriate to wear these items? When you're out with family/friends? Or doing the gardening/cleaning the car? Surely not to sleep in!

Please just promise you will not get naff matching clothes to compete!

YANBU!! It is ridiculous that he would even want to wear something so personal to his past relationship.

Tell him to get over it, or he will not be getting over you anytime soon!!

The clothes are printed with special dates that were important to him and his ex, (how cringy), and he continues to wear them now he's with you??
I can't get my head around that.

I can't even imagine what kinds of clothes these would be! Yes he is being unreasonable.

Nothing wrong with keeping stuff, half my kitchenware is wedding presents from my first marriage but it's not inscribed with our names and dates and things.

[misses the point] embroidered personalised clothes?!?! Amazing. Please can we have photos?

Also, no YANBU.

The fact he's kept them and wants to wear them and has them at all is very odd. YANBU.

Grin at Exit.

I had to have a Google, something like this OP?

I'm kind of changing my mind now I've seen what's available, you should burn his ex's shirts with fire then get your own sets Smile

Be at one with each other.
