Sold a bike but the buyer wants to return it

I advertised a children's balance bike on a selling site. Clear photos and description. A lady came to buy it today, looked it over and was very happy. Paid in cash.

Just had a text from her saying that her husband is furious as he wanted the model that comes with a brake. She didn't know that and wants to know if she can return it. She said she would understand it if I said no. We did actually talk about this point as another potential buyer pulled out when he realised it was the model without the brake.

Argh!!!!! I am clearing out and am so happy to have got rid of yet another thing. AIBU to say no? After all, the ad was clear, the bike is in excellent condition and she saw it before buying. I can't be bothered with all the palaver of trying to sell it again (phone calls, emails, people trying to negotiate the price, finding time to meet for handover etc). But at the same time I feel a bit unreasonable as I think it is probably a genuine mistake.

It may be a genuine mistake but its not your mistake. As you say it will be a lot of hassle if you agree to take it back. She is chancing her arm anyway as doesn't expect you to agree. Just say no.

DH said I should let her return it!! However after reading your replies, I am going to text her back and say sorry, no returns.

It's not ebay. It's just a free selling site where you advertise the product with photos and description, no auction.

I do feel bad but if I was in the same position there is no way I would ask for a return as I know it is unlikely that the seller would accept.

I wouldn't let her return it. "Sold as seen" and she had the chance to check it over (which she did) before she handed over her cash.

Definitely not. I had a lady get arsey with me over a pair of cropped trousers I sold. Apparently they were too long on her and she didn't believe they were actually cropped. I sent her a link to them on the webpage they were still being sold on. She still wanted a refund. Turned out she was only 5ft tall.

I know, it's just ebays fault. Ever since they changed the rules people think they don't have to take any responsibility when buying second hand.

I would have offered to buy it back for half of what I sold it for, does that make me mean
