to think journalists pretend to ask for advice via DM

Name changed for this. I've been approached a couple of times on here via direct message about posts I've made which have been of quite a sensitive and personal nature. The approaches are by people in a seemingly similar situation to me who are after advice and empathy, but when I've replied and tried to help there's been a follow-up of increasingly prying questions.

This may just be the cynic in me, and I don't want to seem unnecessarily harsh, but I can't help but have an inkling they could be from journalists trying to get anecdotes for a story.

Aibu? Anyone else had similar?

I did have one. A person asking about school appeals, I had just won mine and a few people messaged asking for advice.

I got the impression she was trying to get me to admit I have lied or found a way to cheat the system.

I have had lots of messages from other people and never got that feeling they were fishing for something though.
