To be annoyed at this woman at Zumba?

So I look forward to my hour of Zumba a week - it's a rare hour away from my very young children. Dp encourages me to go and looks after DCs.

So tonight I rushed home - got changed, got my water and got to the community hall in good time. I found a place to stand, middle line, where I could clearly see the instructor. The music started, lights went off (we have disco lights!) and I was getting into the flow and smiling away - the instructor was smiling back.
Then a woman blustered in late and flustered and plonked herself right in front of me, blocking my view completely of the teacher and the complicated coreography. I was squeezed by a wall, and another lady.

Aibu to think this woman was thoughtless. I was angry she undermined my enjoyment as I couldn't see what was going on and missed some of the moves!!! Grrrr

Could you or moved or asked her to ?

GruntledOne Wed 09-Mar-16 21:40:23

Why couldn't you move?

WorraLiberty Wed 09-Mar-16 21:40:49

What did she say when you asked her to budge up a bit?

Gazelda Wed 09-Mar-16 21:41:16

Why didn't you ask her if she would mind moving over a bit?

cherrytree63 Wed 09-Mar-16 21:41:46

I would have been so put off I'd have trodden on her foot. grin

I was stuck by that point. I considered asking her to move but didn't want to come across as aggressive

midlifehope Wed 09-Mar-16 21:43:27

Lol cherry!

Ameliablue Wed 09-Mar-16 21:43:34

You say you were in the middle line, does that mean there was a space free in the first line in front of you?

juniperdingleberries Wed 09-Mar-16 21:45:11

Punch her

midlifehope Wed 09-Mar-16 21:45:49

Yes I could have moved forward but then would have blocked others view and I'm not confident that my coreography is good enough ;)

Maybe you should try yoga instead!

ilovesooty Wed 09-Mar-16 21:47:31

Why would asking her to move be perceived as aggressive?

midlifehope Wed 09-Mar-16 21:48:22

lol yoga is good too!

I get the absolute rage when this happens in my dance class. The other week I had three of the fuckers front back and side space invading and I left halfway through in a big snit. I feel your pain, however I am an anti-social miserablist and IWBU and so were you.

Lilmisskittykat Wed 09-Mar-16 21:50:50

Depends if she was good enough to follow then although it's rude and annoying ... It's not as bad as If she was crap and decides to stand in the middle.. Annoys the hell out of me.. If your crap (or unfit) you stand at the back or the sides.

When it happens to me I move in on them and squeeze them back .. With over enthusiastic hand waves and what not xx

midlifehope Wed 09-Mar-16 21:51:00

Well sooty I think if someone asked me to move I'd feel a bit self conscious

Spandexpants007 Wed 09-Mar-16 21:53:02

'Please could you move to the left a bit so I can see'

Then 'thanks, that's great'

Roseformeplease Wed 09-Mar-16 21:53:15

This is like seats on the train. She obviously felt it was 'her' spot. Gives me the rage just reading about it.

midlifehope Wed 09-Mar-16 21:55:13

She thought she was better than she was. She made quite a few mistakes. Normally I wouldn't care, but she was basically saying she was ace, pushing in front late like that

InisSunset Wed 09-Mar-16 21:57:22

You should have just jumped right in front of her.

ilovesooty Wed 09-Mar-16 21:57:34

This all sounds exhausting. I expect the exercise is quite demanding too.

midlifehope Wed 09-Mar-16 21:58:17

Rose, it is rage inducing isn't it!

Miffytastic Wed 09-Mar-16 22:00:35

Nope, I feel your pain OP

God I get the red mist when this sort of things happens. I normally sharpen up my elbows and get very enthusiastic!
