neither did i post the picture of my breakfast in bed that didn't happen together with pictures of the whole family snuggled in bed because i was grumping because i wanted to read my book finished off with "feeling blessed" Envy

Do these people have their trays of breakfasts with half a rose/daffodil in an egg cup, balancing on their bed before they even wiped the sleep out of their eyes simply for the reason of putting them on facebook!

Yabu
And you sound bitter.
Some people do have lovely moments and just share them on Facebook. With their friends.
They aren't all plotting to make you feel bad!

No...yanbu

I eat mine. Not show it off

Not bitter at all - nauseous from eating ALL. THE. CHOCOLATE maybe, but not bitter.

I used to post "lovely moments" on facebook but i don't anymore because its become like a competition.

Maybe you missed the "lighthearted" tone of my post - or maybe i should just force myself to eat the last choc and shut up

We are going to a Toby Carvery type place for dinner, i might post a picture of my pile of food teetering on a tiny plate, presented with a giant yorkshire pudding and ten million roast potatoes..........would make all my friends posting their fine dining in expensive resturants jealous that i wont have to get a sandwich when i get home from dinner Grin

I have failed epically in the Facebook Mother's Day stakes. I did not get a photo of myself, my mum and my offspring grinning inanely to the camera. Silly me. it would be lovely to have that particular pic but my Facebook is utterly loaded with them!

And I took no photos of my chocolates before they were down the hatch. YANBU.

I must be a freak then because when my very good friends post pics of themselves having a nice time or enjoying family life I feel happy for them. Granted I don't have any prolific posters on my feed but there you are.

YANBU. I think posting pictures of the presents you or your DC have received for Mother's Day or xmas or whatever is boastful. Why not just post 'having a lovely day'?

I had a chuckle earlier when my newsfeed was full of people checking into the posh hotels that they were eating Mother's Day Sunday lunch at . I was sorely tempted to pretend to be at Morrisons' Café Grin

I turned FB off as is my first MD as a lone parent and I just didn't want to see. Not begrudging anyone else, but it made me sad.

Googoo - you are not a freak at all, i love to see my friends have a good time and my DD doesn't live at home now so i enjoy seeing her antics although some of the later night alcohol fueled ones i wish she would keep to herself. A friend of mine recently posted a lovely picture of herself in kew gardens especially for my benefit so i could see the orchid exhibition. That is great but its the "look at my perfect family life" crap that is soooo staged and false that irritates me. I can't help but think these people are trying a little too hard. I go for a walk with my DD2 and my dogs most weekends do people REALLY want to see yet another picture of DD skipping along yet another woodland path? really? no - if however we were skipping along a path at the top of Ben Nevis or somewhere particularly beautiful then i would share it too. My dinner? not so much.

I do think these people who post their wonderful presents and talk about their amazing mums don't realise how hard it is for people who don't have that. I personally don't find Mother's Day tough but lots of people do.

There are so many reasons why today could be shit, the 'having a lovely day' posts are probably fine but the huge gushing posts probably stick the knife into some people.

Yadnu - I think it's awful. Just get on with being a happy family in real life, all this stealth fb stuff is dreadful.
My daughter posted a picture of me and her when we'd had too much cava on her 18th. Cheers love.

I only really want to see pictures of cute cats and my friend's animals acting like idiots on FB but it is plagued by people's foods, perfect family days out and fish pout selfies from the younger ones.

I didn't even realise I was meant to get chocolates Shock. No-one told me Mother's Day chocolates were a thing - I got books, and you can't eat books. Damn those pesky kids and their non-chocolate buying ways.

Didn't take a picture either !

It's such a hard one because I do genuinely like to see friends' photos, even the boastful ones! Totally get why some people wouldn't though. I uploaded a photo of my cards and chocolates earlier and got lots of 'likes' and equally 'liked' lots of similar photos that others put up. Maybe I should set up a smaller FB group just for us!!

On the other hand for those of us who have waited a long time to be a Mother putting a pic of what you have got for Mother's Day is a celebration of not just being a Mother but of getting through all the shit, worry, upset and trauma that we went through in order to get to this place

During which time I never resented Mother's Day post. If you do, just ignore them and move on

YANBU TheoriginalLEM

My objection is that it is boring schmaltz. I am happy that my friends are getting appreciated on Mothering Sunday and I have not one trace of sour grapes because my dc have got me thoughtful gifts etc too.....it is just that I prefer to read amusing anecdotes etc on facebook rather than read soppy crap or mundane everyday blah

I changed my profile pic on fb to one of my mum and me on a rare day out last year because for once my skin looked quite good
That's all I could do, even if I wanted to boast!
DS made me a card at school but "left it at school" -as he does every year, I could get a complex.
DD was going to get me something but 'forgot what is was" so didn't.

I did get a present from the puppy in the form of a big shit in the dining room though.

Happy Mothers's day everyone, and Flowers for anyone finding today difficult.

That's the sort of thing I like to read on facebook because it is wryly amusing, rather than a photo of someone gurning over a piles of chocs and cards with comments underneath including one from her dh (is he in another continent rather than under the same roof?!?!) saying what a wonderful mum she is

Lolling at the people that are saying YABU. Did they even read your question?

Op, you must post pictures of your mothers day chocolates on Facebook, it is, apparently, the law!

Ooops, I didn't post pictures of mine either...
