My dh is now retired. He has time to come shopping with me. I like the company and we usually tie it in with a cup of coffee. But he constantly checks what lm buying saying oh l thought we had that at home. It gets into my head. I feel l have to justify everything l buy after shopping on my own for years. Im actually good at budgeting but not adverse to a bit of impulse shopping at times. Albu to think bloody hell l' ll buy what l want. He says lm only chipping in my opinion but l feel he is breathing down my neck. I'm going to show him the replies after we had words today as l splashed out on a new duvet cover!!

Just go on your own occasionally and buy what you like then....

Next time, get him to do the shopping.

Leave him in the cafe and tell him yours is a cappuccino and you'll be back in a hour, give him the paper as well. Now comeback and tell us he stirs stuff in saucepans as well hmm

Let him take over the cooking and food shopping - he certainly has the time now he is retired...

Well he does cook a good bit now and yes does that stirring saucepans and saying do you have something in the oven when lm cooking as if l ever forgot l put a bloody chicken and left it for four days.
I suppose l had a romantic idea of us strolling around the shops choosing tasty morsels.
Will have to leave him in the coffee shop.

Leave him at home. My Dh is the at home parent now but I still hate shopping with him. Our cupboards are bare if I only use his list. He doesn't get that I need salt before the old container is fully empty. This how we went without pepper for a week, me at work him at home and OMG it wasn't on the list. Mum picked some up for me on her way over in the end.
I can't stand the constant "do we need that" or lets try this kind it's a penny cheaper butt out I'm shopping here

SquinkiesRule Sat 05-Mar-16 19:15:31

Oh mines a spooney fucker too.

junebirthdaygirl Sat 05-Mar-16 19:20:39

Thanks Squinkies that's exactly what l want to say..butt out lm shopping here!

My DH is soooooooooooo slow.
I mean how bloody long can you examine bacon to see if you have the nicest pack.
I must admit though since having DS he has speeded up quite a bit. Nothing like a screaming child to egg you on grin

DH won't even come in half the shops with me! He stands outside, waiting for me, looking forlorn. Puts me off having a good mooch around.

Dh was off for three months last year as he injured his leg. He was so bored that he came everywhere with me except work! The shopping nearly sent me over the edge and as a result I am really dreading retirement...twice the husband and half the money hmm You have my sympathy OP.

That's exactly it ludog. He is looking for activities to fill his time and coming shopping is one of them. I automatically shop from instinct nearly now everything has to be discussed.
