Been a poster for the last 8 years and it's been good.

However recently things have changed.

Far too many adverts seem to pop and it's got too commercial.

Tonight there's a really nasty mil thread that consist of posters slagging off their mothers/mils for doing the ironing FFS.

Earlier posters defended a paedophile footballer.

Anyway time out and sadly end of an era for me.

I actually can't believe half the threads here as so ridiculous.

It's sad but the site isn't what it was.

This is the ironing one. I can totally relate to the op-my mum drives me nuts by washing up badly and putting the still very dirty cutlery away so it's like Russian roulette for a few weeks as to whether you'll get a clean fork or not. I thought the op was just blowing off a biting steam rather than expressing genuine dislike for the mil. Surely an anonymous Internet forum is an ok place to do that? Confused

Seriously though, I haven't seen the threads op is referring to but its such a big forum now, there's always going to be the odd thing to get annoyed at. Bit like life really.

I'm going to have a mini-flounce now you're here, OP. Or not here, depending on your current state of flouncery! I need a Mumsnet break - everything's pissing me off, too many threads are unbelievably boring, there are too many thick posters who can't understand what discussions are for, and I'm drowning in a sea of pointless nastiness. (Pointed nastiness is okay, as long as it's witty, but see 'thick posters'.)

I keep realising how badly my mental health needs a holiday from MN. But whenever I'm thinking about doing something/nothing, I find I've unwittingly sat down and come here! It's the internet calling to my Dark Shadow - and I respond, like a moth irresistibly drawn to the flame that promises untimely doom. Only, in my house it doesn't. All the bulbs are low energy.

..... flounce! ....

That's it. I'm gone! Until just before lunch tomorrow.

Aw, I'm all nostalgic for flouncer's corner now. Is it still there?

It used to be tradition for someone to say 'don't let the door hit you on your way out' Grin

Any thread on that fucking 'Trending' list seems to attract a surfeit of humourless dense posters these days. There must be a special squad of them, ever ready to serve their Queen and Banality.

Report
NeedsAsockamnesty · 04/03/2016 00:55

Does 19 posts count as full up these days?

And even the bloody op said she loved her mil.

Have I missed a decent mil thread or is the op seeing things?

Lynnm63 · 04/03/2016 01:27

Purple I'm trying to hide from the shoes and you've posted them on here.
I need a lie down. Didn't know there was a flouncers corner, I feel I've been missing out ...sniff.

Report
leelu66 · 04/03/2016 01:33

OP, you're misrepresenting the MIL thread (which Purple has linked).

A poster suggested that the OP leave out ironing for MIL, to discourage the MIL from doing other tasks that she doesn't do well (voluntarily).

OP I've been a member for a while too and see it change back and forth. It HAS had a big change recently in demographic but in my opinion that's good. It was FAR to middle class and I remember someone getting the piss taken out of them for saying they liked the wallpaper in B&Q many years ago.

Anyway. You'll be back. It's too good to duck out for long. Wink

Haven't seen the paedophile thread, but if it's about the 28 year old footballer who has lost his liberty and livelihood for putting his hand down the jeans of a 15 year old fan who met up with him in his car for a kiss and more, I think there's a mn-worthy debate in there.

Yes Kawlwinga it is about the pervert who groomed a child and sexually abused her, with the result that he is, rightfully, going to jail.
