Any ideas where I can get that much from?

No chance of saving as what I need to spend is a bit more than what I earn. Nothing to sell (except a kidney). No rich, elderly relatives.

Ideas please.

Depends on what you need it for.

If it's something legitimate, you can get a bank credit. Rates are exceptionally low.

What for OP?

I have a range of ideas that vary from the ridiculous (bank robbery) to the actually helpful (earning online etc...)

But first, I'm agog with nosiness

Bank loan? Release some equity in a house? Lottery win?

Me too. Or £50.00 would do. Any equity in property?

I want to jack in my job and set up on my own. 50k should see me through the first year.
Problem is, I earn twice what H does, have 1 DD at university and the other probably going next year, mortgage etc.

Re mortgage house?

It really does depend what it is for.

Prostitution won't make 50K quickly, even if OP is extremely attractive and talented in that regard.

OP's chosen name HookedOnHooking looks like being a hooker has crossed her mind, though.

We really need more info. Is it for medical treatment, a business, school fees? There are grants, charities etc.

Remortgaging is possibly the way forward. But H not keen. He's a bit risk averse and thinks we should just plod on, pay it off in 7 years and then just be comfortable.

I'll have gone insane by then.

Xpost! Equity release or business loan might be an option.

Can you afford to give up your job if you earn more than your DH? What if your business goes tits-up?

Start playing the lottery?

Otherwise, go and talk to your bank. Do you have equity in your house, for instance? You could remortgage to release capital, if so. You could also look at a business loan if you can draw up a plan that will convince them that you're a good bet.

I could put H under the patio and claim his life insurance. But I'm quite fond of him.

HookedOnHooking perhaps to do with crochet rather than prostitution I'm guessing?

Do you NEED £50k? How have you come up with that figure? Is that the amount you'd need to live on if you were to bring no other money into the household? Or is it money needed for business expenses to start up?

What's the 50k for exactly OP? Is it to actually set up the business or is it to live on?

I suggest you keep your job and work during the evenings and weekends to establish your business.

Could you downsize your property? Not a smaller house necessarily but a cheaper one?

I already work bloody evenings and weekends. Any extra shifts money goes to DD so she can eat.

50k is a random number that would cover my pay for a year plus equipment/set up costs.

Downsize?

Work part time whilst setting up?

I would have thought a business loan would be the obvious one though.

Dragon's Den??!!

I wouldn't risk my house, especially when you're 7 years from paying it off. Sell it and buy a smaller one?
