AIBU?

To think black cars remind me of hearses

Ok. So we're about to drive miles to see a Galaxy in sea grey. I really hate black cars because they remind me of hearses. I wanted silver but we need to buy urgently.

Am I the only one to think of this? I'm hoping the sea grey will mean it's not that black metallic look of hearses. I googled this strange perception of mine but everyone seems to think black cars are classy, but hard to keep clean. So I guess it's just me that has this odd thought and we should be on our way.

I have a black car so probably biased but for the most part don't think black cars look like hearses. Depends on the shape of the car I guess.

It is hard to keep clean though.

Very dependent on the car isn't it? A covertible in black is hardly like a hearse is it?

I've had one black and one dark grey (that everyone said was black) and I wouldn't have another unless it was cheap. I am glad white cars have come back into fashion.

That's probably part of the problem. It's an MPV and long : /

i dont think a dark grey or black galaxy would look like a hearse and im a paranoid type!

a black estate might look like one if it was say an older boxy shape eg 12 years or more old.

i wouldnt think a newer black estate would look like a hearse.

I don't but they are a pain to keep clean. Silver every time.

I always think black estates/tourers look hearse-like and probably always will. So much so that when DH was buying a new car last year and showed me the model in black, I had to honestly tell him what I thought.
We got it in navy blue instead, which I appreciate is the most boring colour on the road!

I've had black, but it was a small convertible, so no danger there. I've had white with a black roof and now I have white. It gets just as dirty as the black one did. I'll probably get another of the same type and there are few colours- black, white, red, grey. I hate red and have had all the others in the past. Dilemma!

Well a few people have made that joke about our black avensis tourer, but next door has a black estate, too. Doesn't bother us, tbh.

Personally I detest silver cars. Too ubiquitous and they look bald.

And still show the muck.

We have a Ford Focus estate in black and my first thought when dh brought it home was it looked a little hearse like, but it doesn't bother me now. The galaxy being a bit bigger and taller might also look like a hearse. Does it matter? same way wearing black doesn't always mean you look like you are going to a funeral.

I love black cars and, as others have said, it depends on the car as to whether it looks like a hearse. My black coupe definitely doesn't!

Interesting thoughts. Sounds like I'm not the first to think it. As it happens, the car was sold half an hour before we arrived!! Again!!!!! That's the third time this has happened this week!! It actually looked a nice car - not too black.

I know it sounds daft. But I am still haunted by a tragic funeral I went to when I was a little girl. I still remember so vividly watching that black car arrive and my mother fainting beside me. The memories linger and I don't want anything else to help trigger them.

We're looking at a silver galaxy on Monday Smile

I feel this way about black cars and irrationally dislike travelling in one.

I think some large MPVs in black and with tinted windows look like those private ambulances/mortuary vans.
