Police / Dog A55 - Petition...?

Just seen this petition being shared, www.change.org/p/police-comissioner-north-wales-call-for-inquest-into-case-of-dog-being-killed-by-police-on-a55-road-north-wales

We are calling for an inquest into the case of a dog being purposely run down by police in North Wales (24/02/2016), many people believe this to have been inhuman and are looking for answers from authorities.

We would like to know why such a drastic decision was made and feel it was completely unjustified.

An investigation is required and if the verdict is deemed unruly then necessary action must be taken to ensure any guilty parties are dealt with accordingly

Surely, they realise that the police tried everything they could before resorting to this? at least thats what i think i have read?!

The owner supports the decision that the police made and acknowledges that they had no choice.

I'm not sure what the petition organiser thinks the police could have done TBH.

The case has been referred to Independent Police Complaints Commission so I think the organiser has missed the boat somewhat.

Whilst I am sorry for the dog and the owner, this was a dog, not a human. Inquests are for Humans.

The police have a hard enough job as it is.

Banansa, that was my understanding as well. The dog was running around the road, couldn't be herded up, bit a police offider when they tried to grab it and other road users were at risk. Won't be signing - and can you even have an inquest into a dog's death?

No sympathy from me.
The police did all they could to catch the dog, and in the end they had no choice. Blame the dog's owner who let it out onto the road.

I think the people who are objecting to the police action in this case are either magic thinkers (there must have been a better solution even though I can't think of one because well there must be) or really think that a few human casulties was a price worth paying. Oh, and the ignorant (should have netted it from a helicopter/used tranquliser darts/sent in the SAS).

Is there a petition I can sign to support the courageous action of the police officers involved and be thankful this situation was ended with no human lives lost. I am a lifelong dog owner by the way.

It was sad but unavoidable that the dog was killed.

But given the cutbacks in funding these days, the money this enquiry would cost would really be better spent elsewhere.

As others have said. Police were saying immediately after the event that it would referred for an inquest enquiry.

A dog is 'inhuman', police actions as 'humane' as they could at that time, in those circumstances.

I wonder, were the police acting in an 'unruly' manner, or was that just the dog?

Too many heart strings, not enough brain cells in action there, I think!

I am sad for the dog but I am with the police on this occasion, they have my full support.

I am a dog owner, and I believe both officers in the police car were as well. The police officers possibly saved some lives and families from great heartache by their actions.

What would we be saying if a child or driver had been killed colliding with that dog on the road.

Oh for fucks sake.

Do you know, I feel so sorry for the police in situations like this. There's all this bullshit backlash, but if they hadn't done it, and something awful had happened because of it, people would be screaming about the police being inefficient.
