8 months pregnant with twins and I'm huge, our drive way has 2 side by side spaces on a really steep slope and not a lot of width. Up until not I've had no problem getting in and out mine / dps cars but I've gained whale status this last week or so and started finding it a lot harder to get in and out of our cars on the drive as I can't open the doors very wide and the slope makes it a bit trickier . There's a space on the road in between mine and neighbours house, they have a large drive with 1 white van and 3 cars on. They often have visitors who use this space, no problem - until they blocked me in twice this weekend so I had to reverse up the slope onto my grass to get out.
I didn't say anything so not to be a naggy neighbour. Today I parked on the road space as I really didn't fancy the squeeze between mine and dps cars or trying to get out on the sloped drive.

I've just received a note through the door which reads in capitals

There's not a parking problem round here and plenty of road spaces around other people's houses.

Not sure if I'm being hormonal and unreasonable to park there (albeit once in the 6 months I've lived here), or if this is a bit rude of them?

Sparklingbrook Tue 23-Feb-16 19:34:49

Very rude. They can't tell you where to park, and nor do you need to explain yourself to them. just ignore.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream Tue 23-Feb-16 19:41:16

I would put an equally rude note through their door pointing out that you are perfectly entitled to park there and do not appreciate being bossed around by them. angry

YANBU I once left a snotty note on a car parked very close to me in my work car park when I was heavily pregnant and had had to awkwardly and very uncomfortably climb over from the passenger side of my car to be able to drive home.

Kerberos Tue 23-Feb-16 19:43:14

Depends. The note is unnecessary and ruse. Either ignore it or if you think you can pop round for a chat about how hard you are finding it and how it's a short term thing.

Inertia Tue 23-Feb-16 20:25:45

If it's a public highway you can park there.

YakTriangle Tue 23-Feb-16 20:36:56

Carry on parking there and put a note inside your windscreen saying

SpecialSnowflake Tue 23-Feb-16 20:43:05

Ignore or reply as above!

Tbh it might not be all that temporary, if you're having trouble getting your bump in and out try manoeuvring a chunky great big carseat with a sleeping baby...

FeliciaJollygoodfellow Tue 23-Feb-16 20:53:30

YANBU at all.

AntiHop Tue 23-Feb-16 21:00:42

Waddle round to talk to them so they're clear you're pregnant with twins. Seeing you in person should shame them.

possum18 Tue 23-Feb-16 21:19:17

I really just don't want to have an issue with my neighbours I'm worried not doing anything and carrying on will annoy them but I also don't see why I should struggle. Really don't want to start parking wars!

BippityBoppityBullshit Tue 23-Feb-16 21:31:05

Yes kill them with kindness and shame them. Waddle round, say you are so sorry for putting then out but as they can see you are heavily pregnant and therefore finding it difficult to use your drive alongside your husband's car at the moment and so you know they understand that you will continue to park there.

Side note, if the parking is, in their opinion, bad, why the Merry fuck do they have so many cars themselves?!

possum18 Tue 23-Feb-16 22:18:44

Very good point from pp about after the babies come getting car seats in and out will be a squeeze indeed! From what I can tell

possum18 Tue 23-Feb-16 22:21:47

Oops posted prematurely! From what I can tell they have a car each, a van he uses for work and a motorbike in the garage. They have plenty of room for their own vehicles on their drive and garage, but I think it's inconvenient for them to shuffle them round if they are using one of the cars they first parked iyswim.

fuzzyfozzy Tue 23-Feb-16 22:26:52

Just an idea, we laid a row of slabs down the side of our double driveway, as it was just too narrow.

LifeofI Tue 23-Feb-16 22:27:25

Whos the coward who wrote the note?

possum18 Tue 23-Feb-16 22:30:46

I'm actually glad they were cowardly with a note, I think if they'd knocked on the door to have a go I would have just cried. I'm so uncomfortable and fed up that would have just been the straw that broke the camels back today! Good idea on the extra slabs I could definitely give that a try on the grass next to my space. Thanks so much for reassurance on this!

Ameliablue Tue 23-Feb-16 22:37:54

What makes them think they have more right to the space when they already have a larger drive?

Bippityboppityboo67 Tue 23-Feb-16 23:08:15

Post the note back with ditto on the end. They should take their own advice

possum18 Wed 24-Feb-16 14:20:32

Just got home and neighbour was outside washing his car but didn't say anything to me!!!!
Today I've parked half on the road space with my rear covering my driveway space, so if they want to park on the other half of the road space they would only be blocking half of their drive way and should be able to get their other cars out. Trying to be fair, we shall see! Thanks again for input!

MunchMunch Wed 24-Feb-16 14:31:33

Do not give in! You don't need to say anything or leave notes etc. So if anyone makes it awkward it's them. You are doing nothing wrong and they have no right to tell you not to park there. From now on I'd make sure I park there (properly as you were the first time) as it's easier if you have a massive bump.

If he can bully you into not parking there what else will they do if they don't like something?

possum18 Wed 24-Feb-16 18:49:17

Just had a knock on the door asking why my car is still parked there. Explained my situation and he said 'well aslong as its temporary I'll leave you to it for tonight' and walked off..

MsMims Wed 24-Feb-16 18:54:30

Bloody cheek!

Being spoken to like that would only invite me to continue, it's not like you're parking there for the hell of it!
