I want to get my 2 children vaccinated.
We had a scare over the weekend which has been awful and I've been trying to find private clinics offering the vaccination and failing miserably.
Anyone know of anywhere currently doing them?
Boots is out of stock until June :-(

Same here in Yorkshire. All I'm being told is that no clinics have stock and 'don't even know' when available. Sad

There is a global shortage.

The manufacturers (GSK) are saying it could be a few months before supply levels are back to normal.

GSK, the manufacturers of the vaccine have released the following statement: “Due to unexpected global demand for Bexsero during 2015, we are experiencing supply constraints during the first half of this year. Although vaccination through the NHS childhood programme has been prioritised and is unaffected, we have unfortunately had to ask private clinics temporarily to not start new courses of vaccination. Children who have already started their course of the vaccine privately should still be able receive their follow up doses. We know the unexpectedly high demand for the vaccine reflects the importance parents have placed on protecting their children from meningitis B, so we are working hard to increase supply, and expect to have increased stock by summer 2016.” - See more at: www.meningitis.org/menb-vaccine#sthash.B8Vcts4P.dpuf

I believe some people have paid for the first one and been unable to get the second. I only scan read the story a week or so ago, can't remember the details.

I had meningitis at 17, pretty desperate to get the kids done. Sad

Please bear in mind you must source the number of doses you need - ie getting one vaccine is no good if you don't have the second ready and waiting as they must be done at certain intervals.

I have to say, men b vaccine has been available privately for almost a year now. This was well documented in the press and there was masses of information in the years in the run up to its release. It is sad that it has taken a few recent well publicised cases to get recognition of its availability from parents that it deserves. If it has not been on your radar until now, relax, it clearly is just a reaction to the hysteria surrounding it, otherwise you would have had your children done without any hassle since early 2015 when it became available.

Dd had her first at a clinic in Coventry but hasn't been able to have her second Sad

The woman who gave it to us said it was ok to wait a couple of months between doses. When we called back up it turns out that wasn't the case and we had waited too long.

Cheese shame on you, I've heard of a few unscrupulous types trying to cash in on parents fears. As far as I know no one has stocks at all acailable for private jabs. It's a GLOBAL shortage.

I'm on a few FB groups and staff from Lanes clinic has been kicked out of really bad / unethical methods of selling/ cashing in / taking advantage of desperate parents. They were basically giving doses out for people who were willing to pay the highest price (kept increasing from 120 to 200) and people who have been waiting for long time were not getting appointments.
Please don't get sucked in to Lanes clinic advertising.

A friend has booked her DS to have them at a clinic in Fleet Street (I think?) for £500. The clinic has admitted inflating the price owing to the shortage. It's supply and demand I suppose, but what unscrupulous bastards.

If there is a shortage where are these places getting the vaccine from? How would a parent know it is the genuine vaccine and not a placebo or something? Hmm
