Jeremy Hunt needs to be sacked?

I cannot begin to imagine what possessed David Cameron to give him this job. He's an utter liability. The Government need to sack him, restart negotiations and distance themselves from him asap.

Not only for the junior doctors contract debacle, or his views on abortion, but also his views on homeopathy and also his dirty doings with the Murdochs show he has absolutely no discretion. Also lying, misconstruing statistics and covering up reports. www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/mar/07/jeremy-hunt-accused-cover-up-critical-nhs-report-tory-mp

He's awful. Did you hear him squirm when interviewed ? He comes across as an ignorant and toady little man and it beggars belief that this man holds responsibility for the health of the nation!

Even Tories want him sacked www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tory-former-chief-whips-junior-7359501

YANBU - he is a twat of the highest order.
I can't believe he ever got the job in the first place.
And if he thinks he is so right about the contracts / health service he should sit and be interviewed by front line staff and explain himself.... But he knows sweet FA about how the NHS and its staff actually work.

David Cameron is quite happy to have evil lunatics working with him. Look at Gove.

Well, I think Jeremy Hunt is misguided, but would be interested to know the grounds that make Gove an 'evil lunatic.'

I agree with you. They won't sack him though. He is doing a great tory job. He is smearing drs, removing public trust in them and the NHS. He is setting things up for the NHS to be non viable within 5 years.

For the tories what's not to like?

He is a twat of the highest order. Vile man.

I think that they've gone too far with this one though. They can't smear doctors. They are intelligent people that keep us alive. Noone is buying twaddle from a bastard like hunt over the articulate passion of the people who birth our babies and look after our parents!

I cannot say I like him but he is just the messenger, it would be the same no matter who the cabinet minister is.

The Tories want to destroy the NHS, this is all part of DC's plan.

I think you'll find that public support for junior doctors has actually increased after yesterday tilder

The Mirror article you linked to has a poll. Obviously it's not going to be a hotbed for the Jeremy Hunt fan club hard to imagine that exists however 98% of the poll want him sacked!

Both he and Gove are two politicians I can't bear.

They can't smear doctors.

Seriously, what a ridiculous statement. Doctors are human beings, not demigods. They are not some 'special case' worthy of better t&c than anyone else.

Did you read that thread last weekend about the expectant mother on the antinatal ward? Obiously not.

I'm all in favour of doctors striking in protection of their t&c, but please don't pretend this is something it isn't.

Don't for one second imagine Cameron isn't right behind everything Hunt is doing. If he wasn't, he'd have spoken out about it already and Hunt would be gone. The PM is just glad that there's someone else taking the heat off him for a bit.

There are plenty of people on Mumsnet who think doctors deserve it. Unbelievable though that might be.

I would love to see him sacked, but only if his replacement undid the harm, rather than carried on his misguided mission like Nicky Morgan has for Gove

What am I making it out to be?

I didn't say they are worthy of better t and c than others, but the pout i obviously didn't make vey well was that I don't understand how Hunt can smear them.

They obviously aren't greedy, they could earn per hour in a supermarket.

They obviously aren't stupid, as they have studied for years. I don't understand why he thinks that anyone would believe that they didn't understand their contracts and were being misled by their union.

They obviously aren't militant!

I think the tories have totally misjudged this and it will be their undoing

The thing that scares me is that is that presumably a large chunk of the electorate actually want this to happen (ie dismantle the NHS) because they voted Tory in the first place! Its no secret that the Tories have links with private health companies and even protecting the existing healthcare budget is an effective cut, when we have an increasingly older population with complex health needs, co-morbidities requiring expensive treatments, an obesity crisis and limited social care (leading to bed blocking).

Like you OP, I'm astounded that Cunt Hunt even got the health brief, after showing such a lack of judgment (I'm being generous) over the Murdoch/BSkyB deal.

But hey, if we were all like his Chinese wife, then we would all work harder and have more money/get private health insurance? www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/oct/05/hunt-tax-credit-cuts-make-britons-work-like-chinese-or-americans

Re Gove: I had just started temping in an education setting, and had a child still at school, when MG was SoS for Education, and heard a colleague say that she would like to kill him. I walked over to her desk and said gravely "I heard you saying you wanted to kill Mr Gove. I must object." She looked up at me, opened her mouth, then I went on "There is a queue, you know." She liked that.

Those are two people, but by no means the only two people, for whom the wonderful phrase was coined (sadly not by me) "Fuck them and the lamppost they should be hanging from".

He's vile, but I don't think he'll be sacked imminently. Cameron will wait to see how things progress with the doctors. If the doctors win, then Hunt is expendable. I do hope they stick it out - not just because I trust doctors' analysis of what makes a safe NHS over that of the government, but if the Tories manage to get the better of the powerful BMA, then there's absolutely no hope for the rest of us.
