Really really normal. There's a massive fucking blood vessel that goes down the middle of you.

Katenka · 12/02/2016 16:07

Yes all the time.

Cornettoninja · 12/02/2016 16:07

It is your abdominal aorta- Normal

Yes I can see it if I lie down and can always feel it. What did Dr Google scare you with?

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 12/02/2016 16:37

Yes, I can. Always have been able to.

Perfectly normal. Depending on how skinny I am I can often see it when I lie down too! (Sadly not of late!)

Unless you have any gastro symptoms just ignore :)

Yup normal. I've always felt it and when lying down see it going up and down.

Sorry to go against the grain, but there was recently a feature on this on to local radio, about the abdominal aorta essentially giving up. They were talking about screening and interviewing a guy who had it caught by chance. Apparently he was a time bomb, would have just dropped dead if it had ruptured.

I am not usually one for worst case scenario, but I do think if its something you've only just noticed, it's worth checking out.

I can, I only notice it when I'm in the bath. It makes my belly wobble and thus the water ripple Grin.

I'm not going to google but even if I did I wouldn't be worried, I've always been able to see/feel it.

If OP isn't a 65yo man, it's extremely unlikely it's an AAA.

If you are a thin, young, healthy woman and feel a pulse whilst lying on your back it can be completely normal to feel your aorta.
If you are an overweight, 60yr old smoking man and can feel a big pulsation in the tummy then it could be an aortic aneurysm.

Im not trying to be rude, but there are certain things that increase the risk of aneurysms. It would be unusual to find one in a young healthy person.

I went to the Dr because of this. I was utterly convinced I was pregnant (despite having done multiple negative tests) because I could see movementsBlush.

Thank you all, I feel a little less terrified now. I am a youngish, thinnish, healthyish woman. I have felt it before but thought nothing of it but then today decided to google, but I've learned my lesson with Dr Google

Yes it is normal. You have a massive blood supply running down the centre of your body!

FrameyMcFrame · 12/02/2016 17:06

Yes me.
I also googled and saw scary things... So I went to the GP Blush
And he said its normal.
So don't worry

He just talked to me and didn't even look at my tummy.
He said if you're slim it's normal to see it. I'm not skinny, just size 10, normal really.
This was at least 15 years ago. And I'm still here Smile

I am neither young nor skinny but I have always been able to see my pulse in my belly! I just presumed it was normal as I have had it for over 30 plus years

Report
toffeeboffin · 12/02/2016 17:17

I feel this all the time.

Normal apparently.

Don't google medical stuff.

I have been able to see this for about twenty years ...when I was skinnier it would make things move that were balanced on my stomach....not so much now!

It's reassuring that it seems to be quite common and not as bad as Google says Grin

I had a doctor check it when I was in A&E for something else, and he said it was nothing to worry about

Report
slebmum1 · 12/02/2016 22:24

I've always had it - I'm intrigued to know what de Google thinks it is?!
