Because it's almost certainly viral?

3rd weekend in a row (as well as the weeks in between) of cold flu thing, now manifesting in a horrible dry, barking constant cough. My whole body aches from cough and I'm so exhausted as up most of the night coughing.

My Mum is on at me to go to out of hours, but I don't see the point as it's most likely viral.

AiBU to just have a snuggly day with the DCs and watch loads of TV and ride it out or is my Mum right?

YANBU. It is viral. I can tell you this because I've had it for four weeks barring four days when I was well before it came back for a second bite. The cough is debilitating so I feel your pain. However, I did go to GP last week and he prescribed me an inhaler which has done quite a bit to alleviate the very worst of the cough so maybe that's something you could do in the week? Meanwhile lots of hot drinks and sugar-free Tunes - well, they work best for me anyway. Hope you feel better - it's a real bastard!

Oh yes - those work well too but they make my mouth all puckery after a while! It's not a good look in someone who is either wheezing, coughing or spluttering like a hen with a firework up it's arse end! Happy Days!

I would make a normal appointment with your gp just to check. I have a hcp friend who goes mental when people make emergency appointments when they have been ill for days. Hope you soon feel better.
