AIBU?

AIBU to think pandas are evil?

The creepy little piggy-eyes.
The useless, bloated bodies.
The weird markings.

their inefficient digestive system which means they have to spend almost all of their awake time eating a low nutritional food.
They can only mate about once a year, and are so out of practice they can't remember how to do it. Basically, they are nature's evolutionary mistake.

Now, polar bears - beautiful, yet highly efficient killers. As a result of human activities, they are losing their habitats. We should work to save their world.

But the creepy pandas? No, I can't see the love for them.

Pandas are pointless.

Unreasonable, pandas are great. I intend to reincarnate as a panda and eat and sleep all day. In fact I think my teenager may be one.

As a panda I want to be called Colin.

No you're wrong.

How can that little panda who was enjoying the snow a few weeks ago, possibly be evil?

Polar bears on the other hand just sit around drinking Coca Cola all day.

They're totally pointless.

I refuse to support the conservation of a creature that can't be arsed to preserve it's own existence! Lazy ass bastards.

I love pandas. Did you know that they have the smallest young proportional to their size? (As mammals).

This newborn is twice the size of a normal panda newborn!

I think they were too slow to get in the queue for "useful evolutionary skills", but evil, no, that requires thought and action which is somewhat lacking in Panda world.Grin

I've always said the same thing - cute as fuck but a complete evolutionary mistake.
I still harbor resentment at paying to go and see the pregnant female faking her pregnancy at Edinburgh zoo. She just lay there and farted. Yes I know that's what I did when pregnant but she wasn't even knocked up! Lazy mare...

They serve as an evolutionary warning to other species.

They could put a bit more effort into not becoming extinct couldn't they.

Was there ever a time when pandas existed in huge numbers?

I love pandas. I think they're innocent and loveable.

I'm sure I read a statistic about the number of animals they could save if they used the resources put into pandas.
I've tried a quick google but can't find it now.
Pandas do bring a huge amount in for conservation though.
I do wonder why we look at other countries with disgust about destroying their native animals habitat yet the uk is just as bad.

Pandas have their own agenda. They would make more of an effort to fit in but they don't like what the stinky unfluffy humans have done to the world.

Oh they are beautiful creatures! Evolution dealt them a poor hand. But they have survived for millions of years before we started poaching them and destroying their habitat. So evolution couldn't have dealt them that badly.

In this day and age no animal should go extinct, we know what we are doing, we understand what the consequences are. Yet we continue to believe our need for that bit of land / food type NOW is more important then tomorrow.
Red krill is a great example of humans idiocy.
I thought it was Chris packham, thank you!

Pandas aren't evil. They're also not real. Pandas are actually a made-up creature with the pretence perpetuated by an elite group of people-in-costumes. That's right - they are actually PEOPLE IN FURRY COSTUMES! I'm not sure why they go to these lengths but assume it is for the morally sound reason of raising money for animal conservation.

Problem is, humans are more likely to mind creatures becoming endangered if they are cute. Loads of shark species are really endangered but they don't get a whole lot of press because they aren't so pretty.

I do like that red panda mind.
