Honestly, I have to stop wearing my judgeypants but they're so comfortable

My friend has posted his tea on facebook. It's cottage pie.

Yum!, I hear you cry.

NO. It's mince, mash, THEN A PASTRY LID.

WHHHHHHHHHHYYYYY???

I'm all for double carbing, but really. REALLY.

It's an abomination. (Mind you, I get a little huffy when cottage and shepherds is used interchangeably for pies)

I assume you haven't seen the horror that is hot dog sausages and pieces of chicken, slow cooked with a tin of baked beans then topped with cheesy mash?

Envy (vom)

Well that's a little unusual.

My brother makes spag bol.......with a packet of salted peanuts stirred through. I kid you not.

OP, that pie is an abomination.

American aunt always made it with a pastry lid. Lots of extra gravy poured over. Delicious😋 Don't knock what you haven't tried!

yabu
I thought you would complain of a cafe serving 'pie' as in bowl full of stew with a tiny disk of puff pastry at the side.

It's a cottage pie pie

I'm afraid to say my mum's cousin used to make her cottage pie like that... and what's worse... it was delicious!

Yuck to peanuts in spag bol though.

Thats as bad as sultanas and peas in the rice.

What possible line of thinking leads a person to put peanuts in spag bol? I'm intrigued because that's not a recognised dish anywhere on earth, that I can guarantee! What made him even try such a thing?

What about a pie on a roll. DD's boyfriend had one at the football on Saturday, that's just wrong.

Neverpolishghillies · 03/02/2016 22:35

Now I want pie.

BillSykesDog · 03/02/2016 22:37

That isn't a cottage. It's a terraced house. Terraced House Pie.

Pie in a roll. What? Just what?

MadHattersWineParty · 03/02/2016 22:41

Right, doesn't anyone else get the rage about these Sainsbury's 'little twists' bollocks?!

Pesto in my sausage casserole?

Coffee granules in my spag Bol?

CURRY POWDER in my FISH PIE?!

DP won't let me do the big shop at sainsbo with him anymore. I see the posters and start kicking off Grin

Grin at terraced house pie. I'm not telling DP. He is guaranteed to want me to make him one.

you want to try Fish Finger Pie

big dish...put baked beans in
lay lovingly browned fish fingers over the beans
smother the fish fingers in cheesey mash

Place into a very hot oven for about 30 mins and serve with tartare sauce, I mean we are not savages.

That's just wrong. I agree re cottage & shepherds pie being used interchangeably too, very irritating. The most exotic thing I do with bolognese is put a bit of bacon in it.

MuttonDressedAsMutton · 03/02/2016 23:02

Horseradish in anything is an abomination unto humanity. Yes - those 'little twists' shitty wank ideas are awful! I wonder how much they paid some half head to come up with that stream of shart?

Have you heard of pie-barns - essentially a pie sandwich Often eaten in lancashire
