I hate it when people say to me 'you wont be able to afford that with kids' 'you dont know tired you havent got kids' etc. How patronising. Its like you have no life without kids. Its like some people love to feel superiorGrin

Actually, I now know I never knew tired until I had a child that wouldn't sleep through the night. Having children is irrelevant per sei, its when they don't sleep that I think people refer to. If you are lucky enough to have a "sleeper" you assume all children sleep, iyswim. One sleeps well, one has hardly ever slept for more than a few hours..... For 3 years !

YABU. I only have 2 & 4 year old and perpetually knackered. Hiding up in bedroom now on phone. Other parents saying they feel somewhat similar is comforting. Ignore it if it annoys you.

Do you mean this Tired Parents thing www.mumsnet.com/video/tired-parents, Jack? I must admit I haven't watched it yet.

Are you talking about that set of photos doing the rounds on Facebook?

I found a couple of them hilarious.

Do you mean the Vic and Bob thing on 'special' just now with the bad wigs?

No, it isn't funny and YANBU.

Yes, if you mean the MN videos, I don't think they're amazingly funny either. And could they not have found women comedians, if they were going to commission a series like this?

Being tired isn't tied to being a parent. The tiredest I've ever been was after a bit of a bender.

I love them. The New Years resolution one and the babysitting one made me really laugh. I think DH and I have actually had those conversations.

It comes across as mansplaining to me. Yes, I was tired when DC were tiny. Yes, there were many times when me and partner tried to palm them off to each other by running an errand. Yes, going out together without DC felt really awkward after a while. Great if the sketches were making fun of it, but just pointing it out?

Ah I get you now. Watched and loved them!

I think they're really original....I like the way they are dolls house figures with real faces, sorta creepy :)

The bad wigs are dolls house people hair. The little bed they are in is a dolls house bed.

And of course they're funny. The potatoes one was hilarious!

I disagree - I think they're really funny.

Oh yes, that tired old cliche that everyone who isn't a parent of young children is getting 8 hours of blissful uninterrupted sleep every night. Yawn.

Because no-one else suffers from insomnia, bladder problems, has a snoring partner, stresses that keep them awake etc etc etc.

Watched the MN vids but they're a bit lame, sorry!

I saw one of the clips where they go out for dinner, but I didn't really find it funny nor particularly original. So in my humble opinion YANBU.

I didn't think they were funny either and I watched them all just in case.

I am slightly intrigued by the dolls house/real faces thing though. And I thought they were Vic and Bob for a moment too.

I wasn't impressed at all! They had so much scope for a hilarious sketch but went for something very odd indeed

I haven't watched them. I looked at them, realised it was a couple of men in drag and decided I'd give it a skip.

Yes, I agree with mansplaining and with unoriginal. A missed opportunity, I thought, to have some of the talented female comedians out there do something more edgy.

I'm with you OP. Neither funny nor original.

I've not had a good night's sleep in years as one of my dogs wakes me up about four times a night. On top of that I have a demanding job and elderly grandparents I care for. So just because I don't have children doesn't mean I don't understand what tiredness is. I still want children though Grin

this is about the MN VIDEOS, not just tired parents
