Please settle an argument - marital bliss is at stake here.

I know think that when putting jam on a croissant you stick the knife into the croissant and spread it around on the INSIDE.

DH believes wrongly that you should upturn said croissant and spread jam on the bottom.

He's wrong - right? Please tell me I'm right!

Yes he is wrong and weird!

ZiggyFartdust · 27/01/2016 16:11

You're both wrong. You tear off the bit you are going to eat and spread a little jam on it. Same as with a bread roll and butter in a restaurant. It's in Debretts and everything.

He's more wrong than you though, cos thats just weird.

Mermaid36 · 27/01/2016 16:11

He is all kinds of wrong!

Open croissant (tearing or cutting), spread filling of choice within croissant, consume...easy!

chillybillybob · 27/01/2016 16:11

Yes he is wrong and strange

tibbawyrots · 27/01/2016 16:11

Real butter (none of the pretend spread) and apricot jam inside the croissant. Bliss. :)

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/01/2016 16:12

You don't put jam on anything as it's disgusting

CremeEggThief · 27/01/2016 16:14

Well, I prefer soft cheese or honey on my croissants, but your DH is BU.

Katedotness1963 · 27/01/2016 16:14

You tear pieces off and butter/jam them. Solve problem by buying ready filled croissants at the bakery?

AvaLeStrange · 27/01/2016 16:14

MY DH does that too - very weird!

liz70 · 27/01/2016 16:14

You're both wrong. You halve said croissant with a sharp, serrated knife, then spread soft butter, then jam on top of each half. Stuff in gob and scoff. Easy peasy.

dayslikethis · 27/01/2016 16:15

YES!!!! Result!

DH swears that his way is how they do it in France Hmm

I cannot wait to show him this thread!

Ava how odd!

Ellybellyboo · 27/01/2016 16:16

I tear bits off and put that Seriously Strong cheese spread in mine. I hate jam.

DH puts butter on the top of his. Doesn't cut it or anything. Just butters the top. Mad man!

Battleshiphips2 · 27/01/2016 16:16

I love greengage jam with croissants. You're Dh is completely in the wrong! That's just weird. Funny enough I was just saying on another thread how I was looking forward to staying in hospital for a few days after the birth of my baby as one of the breakfast choices is croissant with jam. Yummy.

RiverTam · 27/01/2016 16:17

You warm your croissant in the oven the split it and bung on jam. No butter. FIL always wants butter on his croissants, drives me nuts.

lornathewizzard · 27/01/2016 16:18

Ha I do the same as your DH (although with butter not jam). Yum

Battleshiphips2 · 27/01/2016 16:18

river I split my croissant before it goes in the oven. So much easier.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/01/2016 16:18

DH swears that his way is how they do it in France Bolleaux they do. See what i did there?

dayslikethis · 27/01/2016 16:20

ooh Battleship now that is a revelation! (although I don't actually split the croissants after getting them out of the oven - just slide the knife in a spread)

OP posts:
MargotLovedTom · 27/01/2016 16:20

Don't the French dip it in their coffee? Wink.

CremeEggThief · 27/01/2016 16:20

It's easier if you cut your croissant before warming it up, River. One of the very few worthwhile things my XH taught me.

ifyoulikepinacolada · 27/01/2016 16:22

You don't stick a knife into a croissant! Shock You tear a bit off and then put jam or whatever onto the inside of the torn bit. I'm afraid you're both being unreasonable...

You just tear off the piece you're about to eat and put butter or jam on that piece.

PennyHasNoSurname · 27/01/2016 16:24

I prefer a handful.of grated cheddar and a slice of bacon in mine but I dont have a sweet tooth.

Failing that I tear a bit, slather it in real butter and scoff it before doing the same again and again and again

Backingvocals · 27/01/2016 16:25

No you tear and butter. Or tear and dip in a bowl of hot choc. No cutting and no jam on the bottom.

For better results have a crumpet instead (much better vehicle for butter)Grin
